My point was that perhaps Speroni should have saved their first goal yesterday in which case we might have got 3 points rather than 1. He has let in 4 goals in his 3 games and should have done better with at least 3 of them (we would have had a point last week if he'd been more capable). You have spent years blaming Hennessey for every goal we concede yet with Speroni there is no such recrimination. Odd.

Sad thing is BG is that Speroni has always been just a shot stopper and he is not doing it now . Now I will ask some questions which I know you will not answer because you never answer direct questions . Remember if you do answer you have to apply the same rules you when apportioning blame to Hennessey . 1 . Would you have blamed Hennessey for the goal we conceded against Chelsea ? 2. Would you have blamed Hennessey for the goal conceded against Newcastle ? 3. Would you have blamed Hennessey for the first goal yesterday ? 4. Has Speroni really done anything to warrant his place in the team since he has been recalled ? Try not to use lifting the crowd or any speculative stuff like that , and try not to pretend that the improvement in our form is solely down to Speroni , when it is pretty clear it is down to the improvement by Roy and Ray since they took over from the hapless dutchman.

On question 4 Speroni started the attack which led to the equaliser. I expect Hennessey would have booted the ball upfield and tried to bounce it off Sako towards the box, which doesn't usually work. People have questioned Speroni's distribution but on that occasion it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Edited by chateauferret (30 Oct 2017 2.02am)

Depends on how much Wayne moved for the goals in the hypothetical situation you speak of. A lot of the time he doesn’t move at all as the ball flies past him. That’s often on top of him doing or not doing all of the other things that myself and many have picked him up on. Anyway, I’m only answering this out of respect to you MKCPFC. I’m happy not to continue on this thread for the time being, as I’m allot more satisfied with things as they are right now.

It's so nice to see a much loved determined legend and custodian of our goal back on the pitch. He is a great, great man and s fine goalkeeper. However... He has not done anything special since his return and save for the distribution for the equaliser had been average, at best. Hope he improves as I have no doubt WH will know he is probably at last chance saloon in his head.

I think that WH is marginally the better goalie but JS has a bit more about him as a character. I always just feel like WH is a bit mopey, ready to sulk, and not a big talker. His body language is very meh. That said, neither would be in goal for Palace in my ideal world. We'd sign somebody from the third tier who was outrageously rated at £20m and it would turn out he was extraordinarily brilliant.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Hennessey was vilified on here for virtually every goal we conceded, even when £80m strikers were left unmarked 5 yards from goal. There's a 200+ page thread on him alone plus all the individual matchday thread digs. I'm just giving a bit of stick back now that everyone's favourite is back in goal. The only difference is that I'm being more reasonable (I didn't blame JS for the second goal on Saturday ). I just want some balance on here - e.g. goals conceded are never Speroni's fault - it's always an unstoppable shot/header, or a defender was in the way or whatever - yet that latitude was never extended to WH on here, at least not by some people who had an agenda to stick to. Anyway, surely we all want Palace to win, regardless of whether players you prefer are in the team or not. Despite claims to the contrary, I don't think WH is a great keeper, just average, and I don't believe JS is up to it anymore either. Reaction shot-stopping was always his speciality and he seems to have lost that. I just despair at the bullying of some people towards WH. Let's hope we can sign an improvement in January that we can all get behind.
