No, I meant what I put in my earlier post.. but anyway the point that was being made was IF the players thought Gayle was the best finisher at the club and IF they voiced that opinion too, why let him go?.. given the chance to play along side a target man like Wickham (rather than the lone striker role which was obviously not one of his strengths) who could've 'set him up', he may have scored 15-20 goals a season.. we will never know.. None of our managers fancied Gayle as a starter despite the view that he was the best finisher at the Club. The reason ? His all round play was not upto EPL standard. If we had played him in a 2 man attack We would have had to drop a midfield player meaning the support striker has to do some of this role. Gayle couldn't do this so it was like playing with 10 men. I hope he does well at Newcastle but he was not suited to us and the EPL

Reports are suggesting that Mark Hughes would like to pair Berahino with Robin Van Persie.

My point was that Berahino would fit into that system perfectly, therefor that is why he is a good player for us......I never said for a second that Gayle wasn't good for that system. I would however point out that AP had Gayle and Wykham at his disposal last year and chose not to use them, therefor you could make the assumption that for some reason they didn't work together, didn't gel or something at least kept AP from deploying 3-4-2. It could be that Gayle and Wykham in training worked brilliantly together but AP didn't feel we had the supporting players to play a 3-5-2 in competition. None of this changes the fact of what I stated. Berahino would work brilliantly in a 3-5-2 next to Wykham or Benteke

I must admit I was sad to see Gayle go.....I watched the 3-3 Liverpool game with a Liverpool fan so I am forever in his debt for providing me with possible the greatest piss take evening of my life.

the problem was gale could do f*** all else after than score. yes you may laugh at that remark. but when you need 11 premises class players trying to keep possession and win games and this one striker who could strike a ball sweet but when it came to interactive one twos and holding it up without falling etc...he had nothing else to offer. so he may have scored 1 goal but we as a team werect clicking with him as he wasn't quite yet...if ever...premises class. we shall see
for all gayles pace...he hardly ever could take on a man....hence he was cap out wide...he always needed the through ball.

Or maybe West brom didn't like Stoke's £17 million bid + peter crouch offer and prefer our £20 million stright cash deal.
