Who is this left you mention? Most people I know, including those who tend to be left thinking, have every bit as much affection for our values as I do. I am sure there are some on both extremes who have other things on their agenda, but they are small in number and have always been there.

Here we go again. Trying to justify your attitudes by pointing at where I currently live, as though that either matters, or that I haven’t lived elsewhere or that you don’t als o live in a rural location where I also used to live. My brain works wherever it is.

My ideas are entirely intended to heal divisions and mollify resentment whilst yours create and exacerbate them.

The idea that the previous generations were all cohesive and built on trust is farcical. There’ have always been huge divisions between classes and sexes, rich and poor.

Where I now live has no bearing on anything. You no more speak for those in Cornwall than I do., but I know more and better. People I know here are as mixed in their views as anywhere else but generally relaxed, welcoming and tolerant. Much more so than in the Fens. I suspect your time there has clouded your judgement.
