The fish who is the primary target seems intent on jumping on the boat and gutting himself at the moment. Investigations are hardly needed when Trump openly does what he is accused of doing, on camera for all to hear and see. It seems to me he wants to be impeached and then cleared by the Senate as a means of legitimising his behaviour as this will play well with his base for 2020. Being able to keep the "it's all a witch hunt" claims on the burner and able to attack the attackers is classic Trump strategy designed to shift the focus away from him.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

There was a post earlier which said if he is impeached and put on the stand,it would be open season for everyone to be put on the stand.

However this is really all about Trump. He is the President. He has behaved in a way which looks likely to lead to his impeachment. So long as it ensures this man is removed from being the leader of the western world at the earliest possible opportunity then that seems a wise decision. Whatever else gets revealed is just a side issue. There are 1000s of better candidates out there.

Who? There are many decent and honest people in this world, even in politics where the system is stacked against them. Especially so in the USA where I believe it is no longer fit for purpose with the influence of money and interest groups overpowering the interests of the people. The NRA being the most obvious example. Sure it's my opinion but it's hardly only my opinion is it? More people there favour his impeachment than oppose it and his approval rating remains around 44%. Whether anyone at all is in a better place with Trump as President is very much open to question. Financially some will be, but that will always be true. There are though many other considerations. Bottom line is he isn't going anywhere. Yet. He will though. Either soon via impeachment, or in 2020, or definitely at the beginning of 2025. When it does happen his can of worms will start to reveal it's contents as his immunity then disappears.

According to Bloomberg in August Sanders had 37% and Warren 31% positive ratings.

Not in the final analysis no, but when the poll of polls shows an almost flat line of disapproval being higher than approval by 10 points for many months it indicates something. I cannot see too many changing their minds either but if any do it would probably be away from him. Nationwide polls don't tell the whole story of course in their electoral college system but even in that the keys states look very dodgy to me.

Yup, you covered the first four lines. I covered it all, except getting drawn into another pointless "Obama" comparison. Trump is the President. He is the one doing the damage.

Impeachment is stupid because Mike Pence will only take charge and continue with the same – if not more conservative – policies than Trump.
