Oh the irony, May using terrorist sympathisers the DUP to prop up a failed government.

National insanity. I was completely wrong and I am humbled on that score. Enough voted for the politics of serial thriller.....they literally just fecked Brexit. Anyone who voted Corbyn is responsible for what comes next. The EU will be celebrating over this for sure. Nothing to be done over extremists here now for sure.....This country is truly fecked. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Jun 2017 8.30am) Pretty sure May has to cop quite a lot of the blame for this result.

I am just pondering as to what the Labour 'Moderates' are making of the result ? The left is now the moderate view in Labour. 40% of the vote. People saying this is a defeat....this is the worst possible result for the Tories. If labour had won they could sit back and wait for brexit to f*ck up. Winning as they have, they'll take the flak when they f*ck up brexit, may will be laughed out of brussels after this. Another election will only see labour make further gains.

Not at all. Conservatives have had to make very tough decisions due to the economic mess inherited from Labour. At the end of the day if you want top public services you have to have a strong economy, NOT throwing money at it in the manner suggested by Labour with their fantasy economics which would seriously damage the economy. Anyway we can go on and on about policy in relation to both parties, I'm more concerned about the repercussions of the GE election so perhaps I should concentrate on this otherwise I can see a WILLO thread appearing. The "economic mess" wasn't Labour's... unless you think that the Labour government also caused the crash in the US, Greece, Spain, Italy, France and everywhere else. Gordon Brown's actions as PM saved the country from ruin and shored up capitalism. The deficit inherited by the Tories was due to saving the banking system - that's the deficit that the Tories have only made worse in 7 years of wasted government!

Pretty sure May has to cop quite a lot of the blame for this result. She does. She made it into a presidential campaign, but Corbyn was the one that campaigned like it was. He deserves massive credit for the swing in polls. It will be interesting to see the next steps for Labour now. Edited by Hansy (09 Jun 2017 11.00am)
