Questions need to be asked on both scores. 1. The old are misled by being conned into the 'promised land'. God knows how people with so much life experience can still keep falling for the idea that you can cut taxes and not have social impact. I mean fancy thinking that maybe we should be building towards a society aimed around provision for its citizens rather than just 'I'm all right jack' mentality, whilst crippling public services. It was refereshing to see a Labour leader who isn't afraid of offending or upsetting the corporate elite of the UK. Society is all of us, we all have duty and obligations to society, and to its contribution. 2. The Labour campaign was exceptional, and the manifesto offered a different view than self interest, and small thinking. Corbyn, as it turns out, is a very good campaigner.

I really do NOT agree with the 'Binary' choices in this post. Yes we have obligations to our society but one can only deliver excellence if you have a strong economy.

And the price that would be paid for this ? Do these people really believe that Labour could deliver £48Bilion in pledges only taxing 5% of the population, NOT forgetting the swingeing increases in 'Corporation Taxes' on businesses which could affect their parents ? Fantasy economics.God help this country if this is the 'Mindset' of those who are our future.Just being honest. They know, from Treasury Revenues. Its quite patronising to think people who have achieved the highest levels of education in the country, don't understand the concept of Revenue. The alternative of course is more Conservative hardship, cuts etc. Now what would you rather, be harder up but have something in return for that (such as access to a university education, or be hard up and not able to afford to go to university). People are coming around to the idea that if we want things, then we will have to pay for them. Typically through taxation. Its very dismissive of the population to think they don't understand how basic economics operates. My only real concern is how elected governments try to rush such changes through, rather than staggering them over a period of time. Businesses should pay for the education of their staff, not the f**king staff.

Please give me the "swingeing increase" in numbers because I've read the labour manifesto and am yet to find it. Please elaborate on drawing that conclusion.

This election reminded me of the 1990 FA Cup final. Man United over confident, Palace optimistic. Do well in the first leg, then lose eventually A loss is still a loss. Can't see how Labour can claim a victory. Edited by Hansy (09 Jun 2017 10.34am)

It wasn't about Binary choices, it was mostly a satirical poke at your patronising view of a section of society that you immediately dismiss as being stupid. But the conservatives can only deliver a strong economy by cutting public spending. You can't have it both ways. Cuts to public services undermine the core fabric of society. These services work to tie society together.
