I’ve given up hoping that we will get on the front foot in any game whilst Roy is in charge. The despair and frustration at the turgid football served up during his previous spell all comes painfully flooding back - but this time not with the caveat (excuse) that the ageing squad limited his options!

We have a young talented squad and any attacking intent or flair is being coached out of them in favour of the defensive shape and negative approach AND negative MINDSET.

I can forgive the cautious approaches to games against the likes of City/Liverpool etc. But come on! The build up to EVERY game, starts with a boring press conference making the same statements as the last one - before going on to get the excuses in early for how hard we’re going to have to work to keep the opponents at bay.
I hate it.

I honestly believe Gary Oneal at Wolves is the long term solution and I have been really impressed by the way he has to got Wolves playing - in addition to the excellent job he did at Bournemouth with limited resources.
He is on an upward trajectory as a Manager in my view and I would love to see him and Derry in charge at the Palace.

The other day I had the sheer pleasure of watching Derby v Peterborough (2-3). Peterborough,a young side played, with vim and vigour. They played with energy and pace, they were exciting and were really a delight to watch.

It left me pondering as to whether they would have performed as such with Mr Hodgson at the helm.

It's a valid point and it's hard not to conclude that they wouldnt have.

But then you compare Duncan Ferguson's checkered lower league career v. Hodgson...I assume that both offer what the respective clubs owners want from them.

You obviously have no idea how much experience as you describe it I have but I’m not here to argue with you, I’m giving my opinion on what I see on the pitch and what people post on here. I guess you thought our tactical performance this evening was spot on.

Not sure why you would think that? You seem to presume an awful lot about fellow posters (according to yourself, old fashioned outlooks? Without these 'old fashioned' fans you wouldn't have a club to support today but dont let that stop you looking down on the rest of us. You seem to be hinting that you are more experienced than most too. I await your wisdom with interest) while believing yourself to be superior in knowledge/opinion?
People are allowed to disagree with you. I do, on some of what you say. I think you believing Mcenna wouldn't be interested in us reveals more about your perception of CPFC that of Mcenna's. His current position is good, no doubt. If he were to leave Ipswich for Palace (Massive IF at this point) he would be leaving a Championship club with a Championship squad which is doing well but with no guarantees of promotion especially with Southampton now breathing down their neck and Leicester now out of sight. He would be leaving that scenario to join an established Premiership club that has finished mid table the last 4 seasons, has been in the top flight 11 years and has not only a Premiership squad but has some very exciting players. If he believed in his own ability as a coach and tactician it is a very exciting prospect. All of this you already know, I just feel I'm having to spell it out.
If the offer came from Palace at the end of the season not much changes. Ipswich MIGHT be a promoted club. If they are its a mammoth task to keep them up. Why would that be a better prospect than joining Palace? Alternatively which is more likely, Ipswich fail to gain promotion and he is stuck once again in the Championship with a Championship squad.

Yet you think Mcenna would have no interest in managing Palace and those that disagree with you are old fashioned? Wow!

Just wanted to reiterate what others have already pointed out.

On a personal note I was fed up with Roy's style of football first time around. When Vieira came in, at first anyway, I was delighted. When Roy replaced him I was pleasantly surprised that he came in and attacked teams.
We faded towards the end of last season and in the summer I was hoping for a change. When Roy was announced for another year I was disappointed. I knew we would have to watch some negative football. I knew we would go large chunks of games without much of the ball. Anyone who didn't think that frankly, knows nothing about Roy's approach to games. Its what he does. When we picked up the horrendous injury list most of us knew a bad run was going to continue. Its frustrating. For all Palace fans. BUT...Parish has made it clear Roy will get a year unless we are well involved in a relegation battle and NEED to make a change this will not change. The whining on and on about how desperately people want him sacked is counter productive. It helps no one. He's here till the summer.
I just dont understand why everyone cant just park their frustration till May and get behind the team. We are not Charlton or West Ham. We need to remember a club Palace's size and budget only grows stronger through staying in the division year on year. Surely everyone can see that.

I have supported the club through thick and thin since the 60s in all climes, across the country.

At present I am not minded to make a 4 hour round-trip from the south coast to witness performances we have endured this season which have yielded only 2 wins in 11 games.
The joy of attending games at Selhurst Park has evaporated and I certainly do not wish to witness re-heated old tosh with red mist of fury formed around me.

Totally agree.

HOL is like Groundhog Day at the moment when it comes to discussing Hodgson.

Can't say I blame you especially when you consider the stuff they call food that is on sale at Harrods prices in the Arthur. They dont even officially allow you to bring in takeaway from the Chicken shop on the White Horse Road, but I haven't failed yet to smuggle it in.
Such is one of the benefits of deep pockets.

Narrative leading up to the Brentford game was all about a replacement for him.
We emerge victorious against Brentford and the animus subsided.
A far from impressive, drab, dour performance against Everton and Mr Hodgson has once more faced shot and shell.

I totally agree with the first half of your post. It was obvious that the end of last season was a weird exception but Roy has reverted back to type, boring us to death like he did in the last 2/3 years of his last stint.

I find it quite therapeutic yelling for him to be sacked and saying he should never have been reappointed. I'm at the stage where I think almost anyone would be better, and I don't mind if that means relegation.

I used to enjoy the Championship and I'll probably start going again.

I believe you were referring to Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson.
He has actually led both Doncaster and Peterborough to promotions.

Like many I pay my £600 odd a year, alongside travel, sustenance and time.
Boring as f*** is my take and relegation would not phase me as any result doesn’t change my life. An up for a few days but most are downs atm.
Palace are in my blood as a football team. Always have and always will be COYP.’

Watched Ipswich on the box recently, one & two touch football, pinged it around quickly, looked to move it forward before the opposition dropped back into defensive shape. It was an absolute joy to watch after 2 spells of the Hodgesaurus home and away, trying to recreate early-nineties Inter Milan.

If it does not improve, will skip the rest of the season and pick up again after he has gone. Last night in the rain was the absolute pits for me - Franca, Eze, Ahamada, Schlupp, Edouard, Richards all played out of their favoured positions at some point during the game, no clue any longer I am afraid.
