If indeed Hodgson did single out Zaha for criticism it might be a ploy to get him to 'up' his game or it might reflect some sort of disagreement behind the scenes. "What I will be preaching to him for the rest of the season is that a player of your ability has got more to give and it is not sufficient to just score a few more goals than last season. "I want to see him create havoc in the opponents' defence and he didn't really do that today." It's not a scathing attack, but it does suggest Roy is not happy with his attitude. I agree that Wilf might be unhappy with the brand of football Roy is deploying (most of us are) but to sulk is not the right way to respond. It'll interesting to see how this pans out (well, maybe more interesting than the games themselves anyway!)

As in the past, if he isn't playing the club doesn't, nothing has changed we seriously should've let him go when Arsenal were knocking, by now we'd have moved on, we are stuck as it is.

I feel that all our attacking players are simply waiting for him to do something and he is now just really totally fed up with it.

Perhaps the whole team are fed up with the tactics employed. It must be a "Hard sell" on the training ground. A defeat on Saturday on the back of another dour, turgid performance and I fear the shouts of "Hodgson out" will reach a crescendo perhaps with cries of "He has lost the dressing room".

I only ask because they have removed a piece on Roy criticising Zaha.

I think it would be pretty easy for Wilf to point to his goal tally this season and ask if he's expected to carry the rest of the team week in week out, playing out of position due to Roy's negativity.

Hodgson plays Wilf and Eze out of position. The fellow has his way and if a square peg has to be bashed into a round hole to prove a point that's what will happen. Wilf will be taking corners next...

Can't be a mystery why we have played so defensively-minded this season when we were opening with Kouyate and Dann as a makeshift CB pairing. Any competent Manager would want the midfield to protect this untried and untested defense setup. So we haven't been able to be expansive yet and hopefully with Cahill and Sakho back we can start to push further up the pitch and distribute balls to the pacy attack we can now muster.
Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life. |

With Cahill back we were even MORE defensive against Brighton than in any of the previous games. Our last two games have seen us play anti-football NOT defensive football. Furthermore, last season when we had both Cahill and Tomkins paired at the back, Roy still played 2 or even 3 defensive midfielders in front of them. Sorry, but I don't find your argument has any merit.
