Well bats enjoyed playing under Roy, that’s why he agreed to come back. Roy must be doing something right if he gets the best out of certain players and they are willing to play for him. I guess, Genk didn’t play to sorloths strengths either. 1 Trick pony if you ask me.

Too cautious? I don't think so. Spending within your means is sensible, but writing off a player after 8 starts is from the same mold as sacking a manager after 4 games. Its reactionary. Palace are due to miss out on a striker that could have been what we have been looking for since Murray Drawing a parallel with the sacking of De Boer is not a strong case. You’ll find few, if any that think sacking him after 4 games and replacing with Roy was a bad move. Same with Sorloth. I don’t think any player ‘deserves’ a chance. You have to earn each and every start until you’re established in the first team. Sorloth never did that and frankly was terrible for us. No goals, no assists, no effort, no physicality. I’d argue he was mismanaged, which was the club’s fault. He wasn’t ready for the prem and the pressure a big money move bought, but now he has really found his feet. Good luck to him but he was total and utter crap for us. Sometimes things just don’t work out. Hopefully we’ll get some decent cash from the transfer.

He was s*** when he played, I remember fans of the club he came from laughing at us because we paid what we did, the truth is the only reason he is worth anything is because he scored 33 goals in Turkey. The Turks have increased his value so are due a cut. Most sensible post of the day for me. Nail smack on the head.

If we can some how make a tidy profit on a player that has managed 16 games for us and scored zero goals. I think the club should be congratulated. Batshuayi’s record in a Roy team was 11 games, 6 goals. FYI I couldn’t believe my eyes when I watched him play for us. I thought we’d been stitched up.

What a blinder for the Turkish side who pay us the contractual price of £6m and pocket the huge balance. We get any ongoing bonuses ref goals and titles etc. Plus a sell on %. If sorloth does the biz and goes to a huge club then palace will get a bucket load more. If not we are still 5m in profit after paying for him. Not bad, a mark up of 50% from 20 games.

If there was enough space the title of this thread would IMO better read "Have a guess at the Sorloth deal terms and conditions and any money we might recoup after he leaves Trabanspor"
Personally I would like him in our squad but if not at least recoup some of his cost. Good luck to him

Certainly not that bad for the 9 minutes at the end of each game he was getting or something. I remember him rifling one in against Chelsea that was marginally disallowed, going on the odd promising run and holding the ball up quite well at times. Edited by sprites (17 Sep 2020 5.28am)

Edited by sprites (17 Sep 2020 5.28am) Sörloth was never given a serious chance at Palace, his game time was mainly as sub. The club must obviously have had a good look at him and it appears they saw nothing special compared to what they had. Personally I view him as a forward type that Palace aren't set up for. We base our style around counter attacking and while Zaha is here nothing's changing....and that's not Sorloth's game. I think in a team set up for his playing style he will continue to do well. It is what it is.....Let's see what the club can get for him.

May be doing him a gross injustice but he always came across sulky, a bit lazy and quite arrogant. From clips it didn't really seem like he ever really blended with the rest of the squad. Seeing him since he appears less lazy but still a little arrogant. Probably a useful trait in a striker.

Where has this come from?, More likely is Trab Get the cash and use some to settle buy out clause, then keep the rest as if they do he is their player to sell. Turkish law is dodgy enough to allow a sale of something someone doesn't (quite) own and Palace have stayed very quiet over this whole affair.
