Trump was also famous before TV, he's not a reality star in the terms of complete nobody gets z list famous overnight.

Bollocks, if he hadn't been all over US TV with the apprentice he'd never have even got out of the first rounds of the primaries. He'd have been that rich guy who owns that building, with the bad hair.

He needed the celebrity status to really win the primaries. Granted not being Hilary Clinton probably would have won most people the election.

More because he's an annoying c**t. People quietly taking a knee, during an national anthem, is hardly having to put up with a gobs***es like Lilly Allen or Russell Brand or f**king Bono.

It's a non issue. Why are we talking about how sportsmen or celebrities should shut up? We can dislike their views, but they have as much right to state them as everyone else. They are citizens too.

The contribution of some will be as popular as a lead balloon, others will campaign and lobby for causes that more people get behind, Joanna Lumley comes to mind. That's what freedom of speech means. You don't just approve of 'the best bits'.

Hope we remember than next time its black armbands or two minutes applause when someone has died of something, who's kind of related to the club.

Which part of that are you not understanding?

Ironically he was a loudmouth rich and famous reality tv celebrity prior to being famous. He launched his political career partially on the back of that.

He has no more right to express his view than NFL players do. And he certainly does not deserve to go unquestioned, while you tow your predictable line of suggesting that these black nfl players need to be examined under a microscope for their peaceful protest.

I will thank you not to start launching into Trump style profanity when talking to me. Maybe you'd like to call me a 'son of a bitch' while you're at it?

Oh stop it.

That is a totally erroneous comparison.

She wasted the best part of £40m of taxpayers money. This is a prime example of why celebs should be ignored when they try to dabble in politics.

Ironically the constitution protects free speech specifically from government interference. You'll have to point me to the document that states that the president has right to state his view than the citizens of the nation.

Or perhaps you're just saying we should be taking his words more 'seriously'. Well calling a bunch of black guys sons of bitches and saying they should be fired might get your pecker up, but sadly it's importance or otherwise has no specific elevated importance in law.

Charming, but I think you'll find he definitely was famous before The Apprentice. I didn't state anything about whether he'd have won or not, or even got through the primaries, without it, did I?

Almost anyone would've won against Hillary, as you've said yourself, So he didn't really need celebrity status. He just needed to say what people want to hear. A bit like Corbyn does except he's not got an anathema as an opponent, nor a two horse race.

I've not mentioned anything for or against the protest just replied that your "But sportsmen seems to be the line in the sand" is not accurate. People got annoyed with Brand, Allen, Church, Barton, Lumley getting political. James McLean invokes pure hatred in lots of people.

There really is no point in me stating a specific view on a specific set of ciorcumstances if you are just going to skirt around it and continue repeating yourself with generalisations. Add to that your increasingly hostile rhetoric and it's time to stop responding.
