I will be happy for him to go to Newcaqstle if we get Remy. He would be my first choice anyway.
15M is a risk for Austin - whilst I think he is a bit of a GM type who is a finisher at any level the question mark is whether he's a one season wonder or not (AJ anyone ??) or a better all round player than Remy. For the money we seem prepared to pay Remy is by far the 'safer' bet (and possibly is the player better and suited to how we play ???) as he has proved that he can consistently hit the net at this level Edited by The Sash (17 Jul 2015 9.40am) Agreed, Remy would be a better choice as a striker.

And with Randy learner looking to sell the club don't see Sherwood getting all the money for Benteke and Delph to spend on players.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 According to a Geordie mate of mine who seems to be in the know at Newcastle, Austin had agreed a deal with them long before the season was actually over. He did say that there is always a chance of someone coming in with a bigger offer and him going elsewhere. Villa might be in the market for a new striker all of a sudden as they will be getting £30m for Benteke, but QPR & Austin will both want a better deal than the one Newcastle have already agreed. He's likely to go to Newcastle, he might go to Villa, he's definitely not going to Palace.

Yes they did which is why Paul Smith's comments simply don't add up. Edited by OknotOK (14 Jul 2015 11.26am) Personally, I would trust someone who's directly involved in the transfer market over a journalist looking to fill column inches but up to you who you believe. Actually, Smith's comments DO add up. Fact is, for a player mooted to be at the top of a lot of teams "most wanted" lists, there has been virtually nothing happening with regard to an Austin transfer. Personally I'll trust Steve Parish who confirmed we - and several other clubs - are interested in Charlie Austin. But like you said, it's up to you who you believe.

I find that highly unlikely as until the final day of the season most people had Newcastle down for relegation and there is no way that Austin would commit himself to joining another Championship club

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 Can someone please help me out here as I'm a little confused. Have we made an offer for Charlie Austin and awaiting his decision as to weather he will choose us? Or Have we just given up on him altogether?
