Interesting. Toilet Duck and Mars Bars influence the news output. Who knew?

Now you are just being silly. They don't but other things can and do.

Musk has come a cropper in the USA having upset the advertisers. Having one eye on your output to ensure it doesn't upset the customers who represent your revenue stream is to potentially hand over editorial control to them. Complete freedom is what the BBC needs and what we need from them.

Let them produce content people want to pay to watch and they can have all the freedom in the world.

I would love to be completely free from the BBC

Musk doesn’t care. X could go belly up and he would still be very comfortable thankyou. He’s playing a game because when the advertisers spend their dollar elsewhere advertising their woke incendiary propaganda x will be all over it. You do realise he doesn’t do random. Everything he does is part of a bigger picture. He hasn’t gotten so minted by gambling on outsiders. He picks the favourite every time. Bud have relented and many others will. They are typical lefty’s eating themselves and each other. Watch and it will come to pass. Look at the unis having funding pulled for supporting terrorism. It’s all about money and with money comes power and with power comes control. Musk isn’t in that mould. He wants fairness and tbh I admire his resilience as it will reap his reward.

We’ll see. I don’t think for one moment that any advertiser gives two tinkers curses over what you think of as “woke”. They only think about what the consumers are likely to think. They will come back to X if the consumers do. Right now Musk is alienating the consumers. Being personally an extreme freedom of speech advocate might win you friends who admire the likes of Alec Jones but it’s going to make a lot more enemies. I stopped using Twitter as soon as he bought it. I think it’s finished as a major platform and will be relegated to the margins.

No Uni supports terrorism. They do though criticise Israel. So do I and a lot of other people. I think it’s quite disgraceful to see the way that anti Zionist sentiment is conflated by some in the USA with anti-semitism when they are totally different. Pressurising Unis over funding because you are a Zionist would encourage me to look for alternative funding. It leaves a bad taste.

How do you solve a problem like Maria (Or rather Gary Lineker).

The new BBC Chairman has suggested that Lineker has broken the corporations impartiality guidelines.

Samir Shah must be a wet dream for the BBC, he ticks all the right boxes for the Chairman they want and is most definitely not an anti BBC Tory.

So Gary must be a little worried about his comments.

GL has been walking a tightrope for several years with his regular outbursts, regardless of whether he has broken the rules or not, or if the rules should be different he has been dragging the BBC into an impartiality row not of their choosing.

His last outburst caused a strike by his fellow BBC presenters. As a manager I would not be happy with him because as well as bringing the BBC into disrepute (a fight they don't want) the strike made the management look weak and powerless.

In fact GL's latest outburst was followed up with an attack on Grant Shapps "to go read the impartiality rules" is a provocative "sack me if you dare" to the BBC.

My guess is that GL is becoming toxic and more trouble than he's worth. He may not get sacked but it wouldn't surprise me if he is told his contract won't be renewed whenever that is.

I suspect that the new Chairman has decided that GL is not a hill worth dying on.

I read the responses given by Shah to questions thrown at him. This wasn’t a prepared statement. His remarks were about the criticism of Shapps and were suggesting that the guidelines need clarification.

No big deal.

Hmm we will see next time Mr Lineker's contract is up.

Like I said some people end up being more trouble than they are worth so at some point it doesn't matter if they have or haven't broken the rules.

I really do think Lineker is walking a tightrope and thumbing his nose at the BBC.

If you are going to pick a fight with the government then that is for the senior management, politically it is like a junior minister creating a major scandal for the Prime Minster over an issue he wants to avoid.

Mr Lineker will not be presenting MoD next season would be my bet.
There was a clue a few weeks ago that Jermaine Jenas will be the man.
As long as they get rid of Wright and Shearer and promote Danny Murphy, Martin Keown, Dion Dublin etc. then the world will be a better place.
I suspect though that the BBC will want a female in the team and not long after that we will all stop watching.

MOTD is a turgid bore it passed its sell-by-date years ago.

It makes the National Anthem look trendy.

Against Palace, Gary would just stand in the right place it worked every time.

He should try something journalism.

Saint and Greavsie was the best football show, so they got rid of it.

Alex Scott......female AND mixed-ethnic AND LGBT.....a PC three out of three. Stronger Sith Lord credentials than the unctuous Mr Linekar.

if she starts preaching about Climate Change then the BBC will achieve a singularity and Overdrive into the next dimension.

She could present it with Greta Thunberg, RuPaul and Owen Jones as pundits.
