The BBC is proving itself to be biased and woke. None of the commercial channels are any better. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (12 Dec 2023 12.09pm) Yeah of course - people go through all the effort to qualify and achieve a job at the BBC just so they can further the woke agenda. That’s exactly what happens. Definitely.

Furthermore, how many of those people did so to operate within a role where they were required to determine truthfulness? Has anyone ever broken into a Police Station, set a Fire Station alight, sent telegrams to Microsoft or pictures of their underground dogfighting club to the RSPCA in seeking employment? Give it up Wisbech.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

A good example of how this anti-BBC movement has grown so much - decades of pointless articles hammered by Murdoch and other s***ty tabloid rags. Interestingly, taking posters on here, there is a big old Venn diagram between Brexit voters and those who are now vehemently anti-BBC. Whilst I think you have a point the bigger worry for the BBC is from the people who are not political but simply don't care about the BBC or paying for it. If the BBC licence fee collapses like the Poll Tax it will be those people who do for it not the like of myself and Stirlingsays. As for the anti BBC agenda sure I admit it because I am forced to pay for something I don't use. You don't see me banging on about the Guardian and the Mirror each to his own.

So true. It’s the same group of angry discontents relying on instinct and not on reason for their attitudes. Such people have always existed but today they just make more noise because of the internet. They won a democratic vote on Brexit and changed the Red wall to Blue. They are more than noisy. They represent the real British, not the naive students, the London liberal bubble or the block vote minorities.

I don’t want the BBC influenced by advertisers any more than I do by governments. The problem with funding from general taxation is that it gives too much direct power to a government who is upset at its treatment. Which is just about all of them. It could be done but would need to be ring fenced in a way than ensures continuity with the level assessed by a body independent of government. My preference is to continue with the licence but to also add the charge to the cost of the licence to internet contracts for anybody not able to show they hold a licence. This could be extended to data on SIM cards. Prove you have a licence and it doesn’t get added. All you would need to do is enter your licence number (or personal ID if we ever get round to having one) and the computers take care of the rest. Why would they be any more influenced than they are by having the licence fee determined for them?

Perhaps you are fooling yourself here with traditional left wing stereotypes. I can't stand Murdoch or his sh1tty papers, yet I can't stand the BBC because it pushes social liberalism and anti white propaganda. This is not mutually exclusive.
