The Hitchhiker's Guide was better on the radio.

Yeah, it was a bit of fun be it TV, radio or book, but I always got the feeling that Douglas Adams was a bit of an arrogant sod who felt that Sci fi was beneath him.

If you want real science fiction, read something like EON by Greg Bear and all its sequels. It's Arthur C Clarke on steroids.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Toby Frost's Space Captain Smith books are worth a try if you like that sort of thing.

Bit of a BS story from the Mail about Licence Officers the bit that made me laugh was this.

"The then teenager joined the Liverpool team, largely made up of ex-military men and retired police officers, but her 'hunting ground' post-training became the areas of south and central Lancashire"

So she was based in Liverpool but they kept well away from it because Scousers are well known to be law abiding taxpayers.

There are lots of videos on YouTube about what to do if they call on you. No need for violence of threats just film them, they hate it.

And for those who hate the Mail and prefer their news sanitised.

I did look for the Guardian version but apparently they decided it wasn't newsworthy.

I loved the balanced report on the BBC on Friday on the licence fee increase. "licence fee goes up by less than expected". Thanks guys - great news report. Presumably a story they didn't buy from Reuters or Sky.

The government announcement was even better, apparently they saved us money, err no it is going up by £10 pa which less than the BBC wanted.

If you wanted to save us money you should have cut the fee.

I see the review into the BBC funding will report back in Autumn of 2024, in other words after the Tories have lost the GE. Talk about kicking it into the long grass.

We will see how this is resolved.

It won’t be by the Mail or their headlines.

Which is why I gave you the BBC link. I think it has been resolved the BBC will have to turn this stuff over after denying they had it.

The BBC in my eyes have lost whatever credibility it had left by reporting Hamas headlines as if they are not a terrorist organization.

Its like reporting Taliban headlines from Afghanistan a few years back!

We’ll see.

If my understanding is correct they provided everything they considered was relevant and which did not conflict with other requirements. Like preserving the privacy and rights of others.

I don’t know if you have ever made, or been involved in, a FOI request. If so you will know that what comes back is greatly restricted and redacted to protect the identity of individuals, both internal and external, being released.

With thousands of documents involved this could take months or even years to resolve as it would need to be done by the lawyers. What’s left is often meaningless, making the whole exercise a pointless waste of time and money.

So how the BBC will respond is unclear. They may well appeal on the basis that the costs outweigh any possible benefits. They might offer to turn the whole file over to an independent tribunal for secure scrutiny so they can produce a summary of the issue.

Let’s see.
