But they are still arriving at a rate of 300k ish per year. That has got to make a dent. Only those who are citizens can vote.

Yes, but Canterbury has always been a student city, and its been held by the Conservatives since 1918. Of course those students are right as well. Tuition fees are a disgrace, and housing is far too expensive (student or otherwise). If you want a good job entry you need a degree. We're asking people to rack up huge debts in order to fulfil the recruitment needs of UK corporations, and in doing so undermining the UK cultural interests and academia. Now I'll agree too many people go to university - but companies need to be providing reasonable other routes into professions outside of graduate programs.

Anyway its all about powerful people using immigration to undermine wages to increase profits. Basic Marx theory and relevant. The powerful people rely on stupid people blaming other people who at the end of the day just want a f*cking job.

I don't agree that "too many people go to university". Education for its own sake is a great thing. The fact is that now there aren't really enough jobs to go round and its getting tougher. Instead of this competition driving a race to the bottom for working people we could share the wealth of the 6th richest country on earth more equitably and work less hours. This would allow us to devote time to voluntary work or other stuff. We don't need to work from 16 to 67.

Then why have it. If a lot of people aren't ever going to be in a position to pay back the debts of tuition fees (which I doubt), then its unfair to those who are. The problem is that we've created a system where in getting a good job requires a degree and forced more people into having to go to university (which also keeps the unemployment figures down). Accademic education shouldn't be a requirement for a entry level job except within things like academia, research etc.

I hope this sneering at the young/student vote continues. Guaranteed to mobilise more people to vote when we have another inevitable election in the next year or so.

At 72% it's gone well over the university pre grad/ post grad percentage so it'll have to deliver jobs and not the feared rising inflation and interest rates or they'll be put off again for years. There is a kind of irony in their vote because of this and also in their pro immigration EU vote but I get the former, not so much the latter.

Well there was a little matter of another referendum in 2011 (see link), the British people spoke then, and the British people are assumed to know best just like in the Brexit referendum. While the Brexit referendum was disgraceful powerplay in the Conservative party by Cameron, I have little sympathy for the "whining young voters" claiming Brexit was not decided by them. They turned out in these elections but British Politics would probably have looked different if they had bothered to vote in the Brexit referendum.

Possibly. 318 Conservative Seats subtract 261 Labour seats is 57 seats. The tories polled 2.4% more than Labour, which I don't think works out as 57 more seats.
