New Cumbria coalmine ‘like opening a Betamax factory’, says Tim Farron. Cumbrian Lib Dem MP condemns decision to give green light to Britain’s first new coalmine in 30 years. Britain going backwards in every respect. The only explanation is that it gives people employment in a deprived area but even the soviets had to give up on that one. Funny how you Lefties change your tune. You made so much effort to keep the mines open under Thatcher. One coal mine won't make a jot of difference to global warming and some people will get jobs. We will also have something to sell abroad. You should be more worried about our growing migrant population, who will demand more and more resources.

By way of balance Labour has an MP under scrutiny too. Yeah but Mapletree can't be expected to know that as the BBC has hidden that story.

Until we have a viable alternative we have to continue with fossil fuels. Over time we can phase them out that's if the left allow us to build Nuclear power stations but no doubt they will complain about that as well.

Not sure I fully understand the rationale in each case but it amuses me that the left of the political spectrum always seem to forget what their own have done.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

I don't think, like fracking, that this will ever see the light of day. The business case, that we can export this, our steel companies are going green and will not be customers, does not stand up, Europe is accelerating away from coal. In true brexit mode, the UK has not defined the market for this, not a mention made, when it becomes operational in a few years who will even be interested.

Who would've guessed it's another sexual assault case for the Tories. I guess The Guardian doesn't print stories about the numerous Labour MPs done for sex crimes.
