The sky is not caving in if you are a net taker from the system. The problem is that you need net contributors to pay for the takers.

No, the non-doms and 'ultra-rich' will pay for it, silly.

Rachel Reeves conjured a £20 billion fiscal 'black hole' as expected.

She did so to justify evading her promises and increasing taxes,
increases that Labour refused to admit to during the General Election campaign.

Labour's ludicrous claim is that the challenges they've highlighted are ones they weren't aware of before despite
the OBR making critical information publicly available and despite Labour as the opposition party having privileged access to Treasury civil servants.

Total and utter hogwash which dies not stand up to scrutiny and I predicted such a scenario privately in discussions with my Conservative chums.

A month of the Socialist Utopia and instead of all them corn fields and ballet in the evenings, we have fields of tears and riots in the evenings.

Tax rises - tick

Above inflation pay rises for public sector - tick

Blame everything on the Tories - tick

Move us back into the EU by stealth - tick

Do nothing about illegal immigrants - tick

Blame the 'far right' for unrest - tick

No surprises, same old Labour.

And now the Mother of the House has condemned Reeves for introducing a new age of austerity.

Incidentally the term 'black hole' is deliberately chosen to antagonise. Governments of all shades have in the past spent more than they've received, with debt issuance increasing accordingly. Government borrowing is not necessarily an evil, just as borrowing to buy a house or with the aim of growing a business is not something to be frowned upon.

This will be the worst government in history. That is my prediction.

Wait till they start imposing restrictions on freedom to control the unrest over immigration.

Starmer said he knew about a £46b black hole just a few months ago so why was Reeves so surprised?
She should have been happy - she was £26b better off

BBC reporting on a possible problem for the Government - a good article - well done the BBC.
Their concerns are well founded.

A measly cut of 0.25% by the BOE tallies with Reeves impersonation of 'Margaret Thatcher, milk snatcher'.

The biggest mistake by New Labour, which they are never called out on, was actually BOE independence in my view.

An interesting clip from Richsrd J Murphy.

It really took me about 5 seconds to think of bigger mistakes. The first obvious one was becoming "new". Which just meant Tory lite. The Iraq war then springs to mind.
