I am forced to reconsider my praise of the VAR system here. It's every bit as crap as ours, just a little quicker. Obviously biased on favour of the hosts.

Very true & don't forget it was an English team of officials/VAR.

The first thing that sprung to mind about offside was the Brazil goal against England - it was the same situation. The handball was bollocks - see a hand, kick a ball at it, handball.

Following from my post about the officials were English, click bait is calling Andersens interview/social media a 'rant'. Now, knowing the breed of our refs nowadays, he will be 'remembered' by Oliver & Atwell next season,along with others, especially our newer ones. Mark my words.

I spoke to a relative today who is in the know when it comes to reffing/rules etc and he said that IFAB (I think it is) were quite clear before the competition started to all the countries that this would be deemed handball. Distance etc wouldn't be an excuse if hand is out. I think the rule is a load of cr@p though. I don't think Oliver had a good game last night but other refs have been just as bad like Trossard's brother that did our last game. Palmer bank heel volleyed the ball and he gave a free kick for high feet and signalled to the bench it was head height when it wasn't higher than knee height!

Seeing the VAR dominated game yesterday , I actually switched the TV off when the pen was giving, my whole anticipation of going to Palace matches next season has been taken away. Refs like Taylor and Oliver, VAR s***shows re handball and offside, taking 3 minutes in the process suck all the joy out of it. And where is the discussion about the moment the ball leaves the foot. How exactly is determined when that exact moment is? So many people stay that an inch offside is an inch and hard to argue but at what moment is the VAR footage stopped to draw the lines?

Very poor so far. I've lost count of the number of back passes. Slovakia deserve their lead. This England team looks clueless and, despite what some on here say, this is not down to GS. Difficult to watch.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
