There are a significant number of people that think that the moon is made of green cheese. Surely anyone patriotic should want the best available manager for the job wherever he comes from and I haven't read anyone complaining about England's winning cricket teams being coached by a kiwi and an Aussie

Whilst I quite like Southgate as someone else has said he benefitted from taking over the England team when they were at a particularly low ebb so driving them upwards would always have been seen as being successful (to some degree) personally I hope he stays & uses the experience that he has gained in these international tournaments to become a better England manager - but in the eventuality that he decides that it is time for him to stand down ( & for him to publicly say he is thinking about not continuing is for me a landmark moment, a real line in the sand)
So I hope he decides fairly quickly because in the eventuality that we decide we are going to consider a foreign manager there are a couple out there who have just become unemployed - Martinez from the Belgium team & LVG from Holland - Honestly if I was given a clean slate I would probably look for a German manager as I think their game is more like ours, but if not then I think I would be talking to LVG -

If Potter had stayed at Brighton he would probably be high on most peoples list - (although I see on some clickbait sites that there is already media fuelled talk of him falling out of favour at Chelsea & them looking for a replacement for him)

Over the years I have heard a plethora of people assert that England should be managed by an English manager, that Germany have always appointed German managers and that Italy have only had a Non-Italian manager since the early 90s etc etc etc.

In more recent times, all our successful teams have been managed by those from Scotland,France,Italy,Spain,Portugal,Germany, indeed not a single English manager has won the Premier League and only one English manager has won the FA Cup since 1995.

Over the years there hasn't been a glut of really successful English managers.

Quite sad really

George Bernard Shaw might have said "'Those who can, do; those who can't, become pundits"

There hasn’t been a successful England manager for 56 years.

Southgate, nice bloke but to woke to be a winner.

Maybe we've been too woke for 56 years - that seems a logical idea

Even more logical is that for 50+ years we weren't good enough. Now we're still not good enough despite having rainbow laces and armbands.

It has long been my belief that no action affecting this nation, whether that be political, economic, footballing or any other reason, should be done so without the consultation of Joey Barton. The oracle has now spoken.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It's almost like there's absolutely no correlation between being woke and being good at football.

Classic irony, sir.
