As in if some tries to hold the public to ransom via strikes for a substantial rise at a tough time like this they're not going to get much public support. Particularly not from those poor souls on zero hours contracts who can't get to their miserable jobs because of transport strikes.

Was reading about how supermarket workers had a 'pay boost' the other day, and when you do the numbers it's still a depressing state of affairs, when you factor in the cost of living. Things will no doubt get even worse soon, but even prior to that its pitiful how much people are squeezed, and those taken advantage of in the care sector and so on. I definitely don't want to come off as anti union as a default stance because the principle of looking out for workers makes sense, but at the same time when they're as tone deaf as they are with these strikes people won't forget that in a hurry or the impact it has on their lives.

If you are going to hold an event in public and not within a venue where you can control admission, then obviously the onus upon what's within that event should be upon the organisers. Obviously an event held in public will have children of various ages at it. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Jun 2022 4.33am)

I'm not sure how accurate the tweet description is but the video information is seriously concerning. [Tweet Link]

There are one million job vacancies and most PAYE. Alongside the fact that zero hours actually suits most who do it. If it was that bad and unpredictable for security then PAYE is what you go for. It is also generally better paid because of the insecurity. I would personally prefer all jobs to be on the cards but it never has and never will be possible.

You are right that it does suit many people, particularly those with caring responsibilities. My sons job is zero hour contract, he had no choice. As it is assisting with events, there is not work for him all the time. When there is he can choose how much or how little he works. As he is a registered cater this suits him at the present time. At least he earns above minimum wage
