Haha Christ, someone had broken Dry Jan that night hadn't they. I tend only to come on here when I need a bit of a break from work so miss a lot of what goes on at weekend. But no, I very much do not endorse his message or his sentiment. I desist from abusing leavers myself. It only draws attention to their plight'

Elisabeth Warren writes a letter to a regulator complaining about the little guy taking on Wall Street hedge funds shorting Gamestop. Crony corrupt capitalism.....they are fine when you're the one being fecked over....but when it happens to them out comes their 'bought and solds' to shout foul.

Elizabeth Warren's letter essentially asked the same question twice, once of hedge funds and once of retail investors. She is effectively putting them in a position where if they imply that retail buyers are acting illegally they have to say the same of hedge funds. It's a fair question to ask really. "With stocks soaring while millions are out of work and struggling to pay their bills, it's not news that the stock market doesn't reflect our actual economy For years, the same hedge funds, private equity firms, and wealthy investors dismayed by the GameStop trades have treated the stock market like their own personal casino while everyone else pays the price." But yes as a wider point, it's clearly corrupt for hedge funds to be able to manipulate the markets to the hearts content, and for it to only become a 'problem' when the little guy does it. A rigged game. Edited by BlueJay (29 Jan 2021 7.00pm)

A rigged game. Edited by BlueJay (29 Jan 2021 7.00pm) I would have thought it was very obvious why Warren would write this letter now. Let me labour this point....Why write this letter now? Who benefits? By stopping the buying of Gamestop shares, and indeed forcing the selling of shares, the only actions that happened yesterday benefited the big players. I think you must be very trusting to think that Warren is writing about this out of concern of 'manipulation' for the little guy. The Democrats are funded by Wall street, they are embedded into main stream institutions, the hedge funds, you name it. You seriously think these guys aren't having a word in heavy hitting ears? I've been in the markets a little while and everyone knows market manipulation is a daily par for the course interaction in trading markets. The only outcomes of any review would be to find a mechanism to stop 'amateurs' gaming the system as it were....while the large players will carry on as before. Because to put it bluntly market manipulation is part of the game and near impossible to stop. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Jan 2021 7.15pm)

I expect Robinhood's owners and the others were paid a hell of a lot of money yesterday....because I can see what they did damaging their brand irreversibly. It should be thoroughly investigated and if necessary people should go to jail. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Jan 2021 7.24pm)

Joe Biden should make time to sign his most important executive order yet. 'Subway' know them? They have numerous outlets here. The Supreme Court, no less, ruled that their bread did not constitute actual bread, a mixture of water and sugar. Now another wag has taken them to court alleging there is no tuna in their tuna, and the court found it was a grey concoction with no tuna in it at all. Execute Subway forthwith Mr.President, on humanitarian grounds.
