Yep. Wise post. Not an easy one for Parish tbf to him though. Zaha’s lack of end product, more value to us, Hodgson devaluing players other than defensive players in years ahead after the contract. But then Hodgson has done that in our battle to stay up so he’s guaranteed our safety but devalued our attacking players. Benteke included seeing as he was on fire the season before Roy. He never recovered after. Benteke takes a lot of blame but Hodgson set his team up around the back 7 or 8, not an attacking pattern of play. Swings and roundabouts. Not sure I agree with the points about Roy devaluing players (I suspect you know this). I’ve repeated my views quite a lot on Benteke and the number of good chances he missed in Roy’s first season, lack of character and effort in digging himself out the rut, hiding etc With regard to Zaha he was outstanding in Roy’s first two seasons but the season just gone he was below par and there have been question marks around attitude and commitment He’s had his moments like at home to Brighton. Perhaps he’s bored as you infer but I think highly strung players like him need a crowd to play to and the absence of one in the last nine or so games won’t have helped. The fact that he raised his game when we played United and Chelsea is also significant IMO.

Indeed. Particularly memorable was a star man performance against Arsenal (last season?), coincidently about that time of the transfer request and their alleged interest. Must be a subconscious thing going on.

Looks like their is a pattern with him people many years ago going on about attitude and excuses made yet its showing again it really does appear to be an issue the problem is he has a** kissers all around him some one needs to put him straight which I expect it too late now at his age. This guy is 28 he really hasn't shown much at Palace he should be a super star if he is that good as the claims by fans plus pundits yet he's not now I know again excuses will be made but again top players don't use them and are intelligent enough to read whats going on in games taking advantage of it he never does any of this. I would say this is why he would never make it in big team that is the difference you can have all the talent but if you cant use it or know how to use it its useless plus having poor attitude doesn't help. This guy after what happened with his failed move should of hit the ground running to really show the other teams what they missed out yet look what we got he he was awful should of not even been selected to play from the start. We will be lucky to get 30m for this guy

I have always loved Wilf as one of our own. Today, I actually want him to leave. I'm sick of the attitude on the pitch and haven't been too happy with social media off of it. I just hope we don't sell him without a replacement, but this is Palace so could easily happen.

I would like to see him re invent himself as an out and out winger, hug the touchline and whip crosses in for others. The same applies to Townsend as well. They always cut in early and are predictable for defenders. He's got to realise that top clubs have similar players to him, many younger and needs to expand his game to get his dream move.

In my 45 years of watching (albeit on and off) he has to go down as the best. Been the difference between league one and seven years in the Premier League and an FA Cup final. The game is faster and technically superior (in my opinion by some distance) to when we were previously yo-yoing in and out of the top flight.

He didn't play for us in the first season, regarded as the most difficult, he was playing for Cardiff, who got relegated.

I was aware of that but still stand by it bearing in mind what he did to get us promoted. Without him we'd probably be league one by now. I think he's been voted our player of the season three times in the Premier League.
