It's just now we get a constant flow of contradicting nonsense from papers, sky sports, Twitter etc. People start expecting the club to be giving out official statements to keep us informed of every minor update. Once upon a time you just had clubcall and before that you'd just turn up and see a new face in the team and have to look at the match programme. We're clearly interested in the player, which imo is a good thing. I'll wait to see him holding a shirt before I get excited though.
