And now Brighton have moved swiftly to replace Lewis Dunk....before he has even left. Oh for a bit of planning.

Too soon to call it a shambles, let’s wait until Thursday? Parish and the board doesn’t have a billionaire it’s back pocket, unlike many of our competitors so Parish & co have to be very careful in what they spend and how they spend it. Also the American owners want out, so a tricky cash flow situation? I still think the window has been a bit of a shambles whether we sign 4 more players or not. We can’t keep doing these late deals. Sooner or later we will pay the price and our annual terrible start will catch up with us and we will go down. Yes we save wages by signing late, but the cost of not having signings bedded in and players not having pre seasons with us is just not worth it. This pre season is the worst I have seen from us in terms of depth and quality. I wouldn’t care about the performance and the result if it was week one or 2 of pre season but we start next week and we don’t look ready at all. One or two late additions is understandable, especially if they are on bigger money, but we are still 4-6 players short and will struggle to complete all of those in time in my opinion.

Can’t say I disagree with your statement however I think it is realistic to say most Palace fans are expecting at least one if not two strikers, a right back and a few squad players to come in. That would be a fair expectation given we have offloaded so many, sold a RB for £50million and do not have any goal scorers on the books. Leaving it to the last minute however is shambolic. As you’ve stated we will not be spending big bucks, nor do I I expect us to given my (limited) understanding of the finances. I don’t see the extent to which you can save money by leaving it until the last moment however. We’ve had all summer to spend thriftily, all season to plan for it and at least assemble something close to a competitive squad. As it stands I, probably like most, feel as though we are in a worse position now then we have been for a number of seasons. I’m not knocking our just survive plan, I’m quite accepting of that, however I deeply resent the inevitable lack of performance at home, particularly at the beginning of the season as a season ticket holder. I also feel as though the clubs silence coupled with the lack of activity is almost insulting to those of us that make Palace what it is. I don’t expect Parish to come out and detail his strategies but he should at least engage the fans on some level. Even if we sign 5 decent players and 5 quality players by Thursday, I will still class this as a shambles. Absolutely praying Everton don’t turn up next week or we could be in for a hammering.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Yes, I’d go further and say us fans and manager are being insulted at the start of every season, which is why I’m tempted to not use my ST for the games we look like having zero chance in. Parish really owes us a drink each for these reasons. All 22,000 of us. I won’t hold my breath on that or, or probably a cold drink at half time as they’ll all be warm at HT vs Everton and the only food left will be sausage rolls. (Should also have gone in the amateur thread)

My fear is that we are doing a Sunderland, year after year circling the drain, sooner or later we will go down. As a player you can only do the backs to the wall we're all in this together so many times. Players are no different to us at some point they want to see the light at the end of the tunnel rather than facing another year of struggling in the bottom half and that is why Wilf wants to leave. Our final league positions have been down to our strong end of season finishes. If we don't show ambition in the transfer market I fear the worse. We have relied on several key players and their consistent performances if they fall off or get injured we are in trouble.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'how many players will arrive b4 the deadline?' by Midlands Eagle I'd take the more than for so I get the 16/1bet and then have a fiver on it. You might owe me £85 Bangell. Cahill, Camarasa, Watkins, Maupay, Banks, Chalov, Elabdellaoui. We might be surprised by the end of the transfer window. Hopefully a good surprise.
