He might have turned it around....probably not, but he might have.....deserved that chance. even at 14 these kids know what they are doing, their not stupid. the kids have no regard for human life, and openly admit they dont leave the house without carrying a knife or i find it such a shame that people are willing to murder somebody over something that used to simply get you a slap. society's f***ed

All I can say is that I feel regret for the loss of redemption....He was 14 and as far as I know hadn't directly murdered anybody. But I won't criticise the anger of anyone on here nor will I say I'm right and you're wrong. I just feel sadness about it all. My anger is with how it all came to be. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Nov 2019 12.56pm) what needs to happen (in my opinion) is that if you are caught with a bladed weapon, then the punishment is the same is if you are caught with a firearm. generally firearm tariffs start at 5 years whereas bladed article starts at 6 months, thats not right, both can kill. knife laws are changing to the point that if one person in a group is caught with a knife the whole group will be subject to arrest under joint enterprise but still the sentence needs to be stronger, thats why kids carry knives above guns as a minimum 5 year stretch is to a certain extent a deterrent. you are of course correct 14 years old is no age to lose a life and he may not have killed anybody directly, however he was no doubt involved in that culture and the choices he made led to his downfall. this whole unapologetic self-preservation line of kill or be killed, stab before they stab you is harrowing and something needs to be done to tip the scales the other way.

Yep, some sort of zero tolerance would probably be needed to bring coherence and order to the rougher streets. However, 'zero tolerance' itself comes with an inevitable degree of unfairness and harshness that's inherent.....Stop and search for example is regularly an inconvenience to the innocent....However, if we want law and order it can't be done nicely.....and it would be hard and nasty with lots of liberals complaining about it. We'd need a lot more Police and more prisons.....Basically it isn't going to happen. Essentially the people elected to control these areas are all about empathy and excuses for these problems.....I don't see them annoying their base. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Nov 2019 2.39pm)

I'm just showing that for the right crime against the 'right ' people it can be done.
