His close control, ability to retain the ball and bring others into play is very good. Seems to have the nouse of winning plenty of free kicks too. Been very impressed with him so far. If he can get 10+goals that’s way above my previous expectations of him. Has to start as the main striker imo. Funny thing is it’s seem to have brought benteke on a bit too, at least with his desire and putting himself about. Made the turnover for pva’s goal. On a side note - Wilf looks very lacklustre to me right now. Just his body language as much as anything. Hopefully he’ll snap out of it and he can move on in Jan.

Correct. Those who know f*** all about football reveal themselves when they think the guts and thunder players charging about making up the numbers are the best on the pitch. He could've spent the whole 90 minutes scratching his arse as long as he puts that one on one away for me. He didn't. 1 point instead of 3 is the consequence and all that work rate is ultimately for nothing. Still, God (and the masses) loves a trier. Ain’t that the truth.

We can't sell him in January unless we can replace him and we all know how expensive that window can be and probably there will only be a few quality players available. If we cannot replace him in Jan then I can see him staying until next summer. If you listen to some of Roy's words on the subject I believe he is also of that impression.

2 very good performances this season in the league and harsh to see him dropped for Sheff Utd. First name on the team sheet at the mo based on performances.

True - but depends where we are in the league at the time and his performances up until that point. Like you say it’s a selling club market in Jan - that’s where we could get top dollar.

Wishful thinking I know but, you'd like to think with a Wilf sale on the cards for January the groundwork is being done now, agreements in place long before it's too late & others can add an additional 20% to any price. Wishful thinking though...

Yesterday Ayew was everything he wasn't last season: held the ball up, was strong, linked up play and most importantly was composed enough to score. Let's hope we get the new Ayew for the rest of the season.

Not sure about first name on the sheet but absolutely no way should of been dropped last week an absolute clanger from RH and after yesterday there is no way Tekkers can start in his place. The last 2 seasons with Tekkers up front we may as well play with 10 men.

If Ayew had played well last season we would have had to pay a damn sight more for him,£2.5 million was a STEAL! Originally posted by taylors lovechild

I always thought he was useful out wide when there’s lots of space or the game has opened up. But that’s not on offer all the time. Now if he can offer yesterday more often then it’s very very useful. Edited by Rudi Hedman (25 Aug 2019 12.20pm)

Whatever Ghana did to him at the AFCON is quite something, he is completely different to last year.

Maybe some of the difference is that last year he was a loan player, this year he is contracted - maybe he is a player that needs to feel he belongs somewhere / is really wanted ?
