I wouldn't have Puncheon anywhere near the team, if I had a choice, he isn't up to it without his mate Pardew.

I am not anti Reideweld, but something isn't right about him. Maybe the rigours of Premier football aren't for him and just cant produce at that level on a consistent basis. There is an interesting interview with Jach on his page on HOL, saying the step up from where he came from was too much.

I think with any player moving to any league t will always be a step up. The polish ekstraklasa is definitely not the highest rated in the world but some top talent has emerged from there in recent years. Lewandowski is a prime example but more recently the Genoa polish striker is leading the scores compared to world class players. And he arrived not so long ago. I feel reideweld has not been given a fair chance to prove himself. Look at awb. He came along during possibly the worse time for palace and went from playing for the youth team to playing against the best club in the prem. defending like a mad man.

I think the other problem is that Roy has a different play style compared to others, not all players fit that style. But to start punchon over reideweld is like starting speroni over Guaita

Exactly. Willo how can you say this when SP on numerous occasions has used FFP/constraints as a reason for not buying the players we need

To be honest I have not witnessed any extended promulgation by Parish, proferring a mantra pertaining to financial constraints hampering our recruitment process.Certainly no liturgical chant to convince the masses.Perhaps I have not read the words, nor heard the mellifluous voice of Steve Parish in the media as much as some on here !

For the sake of those that speak normal English and not the mangled version preferred by Willo he is trying to say:-

To be honest I haven’t heard Parish mentioning financial constraints causing a potential problem with recruitment but there again I haven’t been following the media as closely as some others have

I seem to recall that the general opinion on this forum about another player was that coming from an inferior league he just wasn't up to Premiership standards but Jedinak turned out OK

Good point.

Jedinak??

Perhaps we should get him back to put some fight, backbone and leadership to help get us out of our current crisis.

Not getting a look-in at A.Villa.He hasn't played since September, besides he is not what we require at the present time.

Your defence of Reideweld is misplaced. He is a professional footballer and very well paid, the least Palace are entitled to expect is that he is fit and at playing weight recommended. He may of had one good game, but is obviously not consistent, like say McArthur.

Coming from Ajax doesn't automatically mean your good, Dutch football has been on the decline for years.

Not all players can step up to a higher level and in a foreign country. This is the case with Sorloth, there have been many players come from aboard and sink without a trace as they cant produce. We know about Sorloth as he is here, I expect every club has their own version, but we don't hear about them.

With all due respect, how can he become consistent if he doesnt get game time?

I may be wrong, but wasn't Jairo injured, hence his lack of involvement recently? He has looked neat and tidy when I've seen him, but not a game changer. I think our midfield has looked good in that regard this season with our inter play very good with high possession and a high number of chances created. Goals scored, this is the problem. I don't seem Jairo changing this. In fact, I don't see anyone who is fit and outside the first XI who will change that. Despite some issues at the back, we have kept five clean sheets this season, which puts us only behind the top four in this area.

Game after game we see chances being wasted and I personally don't see what more Roy can do with the players at his disposal. They say the table generally reflects a clubs investment and perhaps our lack of investment in the last year is catching up on us. Ayew has proved to be a flop so far and despite my best efforts to support him Sorloth does not look ready to lead the line, plus when he does play the other players don't seem to want to pass to him.

If either Bentenke or Wickham come back all guns blazing, or we sign someone who knows where the net is, then I believe we'll be fine. Until then I can't help but think it will be a long winter with brief glimmers of hope dangled in front of us.

Just maybe he is pi***d off with being overlooked week in week out. A good example was last season against Leicester, he was on the bench but Roy decided to bring on Souare and Lee (who was going and hardly warranted a massive send-off)...why not give JR some game time? It may be a massive step up but how many in our squad have played in a European final?

Ha Ha

I quite enjoyed reading Willo's response, very well put and nice to see some well written English.

I'd never criticise someone for having a skill like this. On the contrary, I applaud him.

Yes and I was one of those that questioned Jedinaks ability in the early days.

However, the problem we have now is the premiership doesn't allow us enough time to bed in players who have a weakness.
