You'll have seen me apologise for one or two comments for this reason), let's just keep a low profile. It's not really about our rights to say what we like. There's a bit of heat on us and it'll be easy to avoid another storm in a teacup. Think how gutted the Brighton fans will be when we don't give them any ammunition. They'll have to clutch at some even more pathetic straws.

Of course, it doesn't mean you're not right either, it's just the assumption a few people like to make. From what I'm seeing, the more offended you are the more attention and reward you get. Whole companies cower to 'offended' people....the rights and wrongs of any particular situation are rarely more important than how upset people are.

I bet it's sung by about as many people as you can fit in a bathroom. It's the other clubs I predict will feel most heat on this.

I rarely sing football songs myself.....but there's nothing wrong with it if it's a bit of fun. If a song has malignant intent then it's not something I'd participate in myself.....To me, Brighton is where Eubank Snr and Jnr live.....Never really understood why we are rivals to a non London side...But I'm not into disliking people I don't know anyway....It's a flipping football match.

I'm not even going. I only have about 850 loyalty points. Don't know why I even got involved to be honest. I'm going to sit in my living room singing homophobic songs for 90 minutes instead. Might even try to get the game up on the telly if I can.

To be honest, I wouldn't sing those chants in the first place, because I know the implications behind it. However, I don't think you can tell people to stop saying them, you need to actively show what happens. The main cause for homophobia in football is 'banter', and you need to explain to people why it is not banter. I'm left-wing (moderately liberal), but we need to do not what the liberal left do all the time at the moment, and shout 'I'm offended', stereotype an entire bunch of people and slag them off without any engagement. Also, I wonder what people's opinions on Brighton using the derogatory term 'pikey' and them making fun of people who had their homes and livelihoods destroyed in the 2011 London riots?

I think we've got a whole heap of trouble coming our way over this, the FA will feel obliged to act with fines and even points deduction, and they will expect the club to ban people. There seems to be a lot of people on here avoiding the issue that bellowing disgusting abuse is wrong and could be construed as a hate crime. I will report incidents I witness to stewards and expect them to act.

I couldn't care less what they call me/us. They refer to us as chavs as we are generally more working class than they are and pikey as they have struggled to come up with a better insult. The burnt your town down chant is quite amusing although I'm sure that it isn't to anyone affected by the 2011 riots.

Unless you think songs like We Can See You Holding Hands is disgusting abuse.

I bet they don't fine us and if they do fine anyone Brighton don't play us at their muted and soulless ground until the end of November. Disgusting abuse you will report? I haven't heard any of the disgusting kind of abuse you talk of. If you're talking about the bum song then you would've needed a notepad to note down all culprits and dozens of stewards to follow your instructions, with no hassle for you from doing so. As I've said many times, I doubt the song will be sung. Everyone knows we're being watched and it'll give them a result if it's sung and we're punished or viewed as prehistoric by the new age football audience. Anyone else want to carry on as if we have a big problem with homophobia or are going to have this season? If you do, you should watch Leeds in the documentary. That will get negative attention.
