What Sam said last night was telling. "I've been here 10 days and need to assess the players. I'm learning things very quickly' In other words i've got more junk here than i thought

I have an issue with that. Apparently he sent quite a comprehensive document to the owners at the beginning of December detailing what was wrong and what he would do to fix things.

I accept he can't have known everything or everyone inside out but there were a few basics surely, like as others have said playing Wilf on the left. Carry on doing that and he will definitely be gone. Townsend needs to be told he has two choices, play on the left or find another club.

Sam does need to be given a chance to sort things out but there has been something David Moyes-ish about some of his comments and after the last three games, it does feel like we have gone backwards

By the way, I wish people would stop referring to Swansea as the worse team in the league, they clearly aren't.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

To be fair to Allardyce, Pardew had already flirted with that and I was a bit surprised to see it continuing under the new manager, but I suspect that Townsend may have been piling on the pressure to play where he wants. It hasn't taken SA long to realise it doesn't work and he did swap it at HT yesterday and then rapidly replaced the sulky b******.

I've been saying for a while now that Townsend needs to be told in no uncertain terms to get on the left and start putting some crosses in. In the last couple of days someone responded saying that he is only effective on the right; I have to say I've seen very little evidence of that (beyond that pass for Cabaye); inverted winger my arse!

Last night's first half performance was dire. Second half better, but what goes on in the minds of our players when we equalise? We become statues. This is "the winter of our discontent".

As I understand it Shakespeare used the phrase 'winter of our discontent' to refer to the emergence of spring and sunnier times ahead after a period of discontent. Let us hope therefore that it is indeed the winter of our discontent.

Several words starting with "D" have entered my head :

Dire, Debacle, Disgusting,Disappointing,Despicable,Dastardly, Diabolical.

Maybe Allardyce now realises that he has a much bigger job than he had expected. To my humble mind he will need more than the "One or Two" in the 'Transfer Window'.

I suspect he knows that, but is being realistic about what's actually achievable.

Maybe he was being "Conservative" so as not to raise expectations amongst the fans.If he said we needed 5 and only got 2 that could start a debate and a narrative etc etc. There might be allegations of 'Board' not backing the manager, our scouting system, players not attracted to our club etc etc.

Exactly. Always under-promise and over-provide
