I wonder if Palace fan Chuka Umunna MP could help push things through with the council...

As he's an MP with a constituency in a different borough (Lambeth), it seems unlikely, plus we don't know if there are any problems with the council yet, do we? In fact, we don't even know what the plans are.

Think the fans should start adding friendly pressure against the council by brining media attention to the situation before they start with the obvious objections?

The local media are already giving it their 'attention' and I can't really see the need to start anticipating problems before they've arisen.

It's more likely that local residents, rather than the planning department, will have objections, and it'll be for the council to decide what is reasonable or not.

Parish really does come across as a very sensible director, hopefully with palace as a Prem club (which give it some kudos) it will help the council realise the advantages of a new stand being build and the advantages to the local businesses and area, obviously there are bad points for building a bigger stand, but hopefully things will start to progress and the designs will be released soon.

If Selhurst Park is going to be our long term home (rather than a move elsewhere - either to the Crystal Palace athletics site or maybe to a site near to the M25 Caterham turn off) then we need to spend serious money to buy back Sainsburys.
We also need to be looking long term to buy the approximately 40 houses (as they become available) on Park Road which would allow us to expand that side of our stadium site.
Given the huge sums that the Premier League offers, this high level of investment would be well rewarded.
What can be done to improve the accessibility of the stadium? We're mocked nationally for the problems our fans and visitors have to endure getting to our games.
Could perhaps the line from London Bridge to East Croydon via Norwood Junction become a London Underground extension?
Just a few thoughts. I'd be interested to know what others think.

The TV money in the PL may well be substantial, but every club receives these huge sums and we need to invest large sums in the squad to remain in the division. The main effect of the latest deal was inflation in the transfer market. The only way we've been able to contemplate major improvements to the stadium is by seeking substantial new investment, indicating quite clearly that the PL money is not enough to do so.

SP has said on a number of occasions that we are in negotiations with Sainsbury's with respect to the Whitehorse Lane stand, which suggests that they have no intention of going anywhere. Do you have any idea of the cost of purchasing 40 properties, 'as they become available', and how long that would take? I've never understood the supposed problems with travel to Selhurst Park, with three stations within easy walking distance and how much do you suppose a new tube line would cost, even if LUL were the slightest bit interested?

That really isn't a viable option, the Yanks would never have invested had SP had that idea in his Business Model. My understanding is the development of the Main Stand with the Up and Over extension and the Whitehorse/Sainsburys end will take the capacity to 40,000.Corporate hospitality is being increased and depending on the outcome of the planning a small complex of shops and a decent hotel were also being talked about.I am pretty sure that with the collective business brains the football club now has at the helm this development will generate enough extra income to make the club sustainable in the future should we drop out of the PL.I don't think it is a coincidence that our net spend was only £9 million in the summer,i firmly believe that the rise in TV revenue has now made the development of the ground critical and the development budget is now priority. The deal with the yanks was an initial £50 million for recruitment and a further £50 million which I assume is for development once the plans are in place.I would hazard a guess that providing we stay up this season the revenue we would get will be enough to make up any shortfall in costs and it will then just be down to the Council. One would hope that they will embrace the clubs success and work with us for the good of the area and the community within that area.

The cost of buying homes on Park Road isn't as expensive as you might think. It's not like they would have to pay the £500k for each – just a 20 per cent deposit (£100k) and rent it out.

Really? As has been said, three main line stations within easy walk of the ground, plenty of buses too. The only 'problem' is parking if you choose to drive.

The only moans I've seen are those about queuing to get through the turnstiles but mostly that seems to be down to folk insisting on turning up 10 mins before kick off & needing a p***.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

dont know if you would need to buy the houses, the Arthur has a big foot print with a concourse behind then a gap then the road. We could demolish and build up like the southampton stadium with concourse under the seating as such could also connect to the holmesdale and possible connect to the white horse aswell.
Building the stand so its possible to add another teir in future if needed.

The away fans that have trouble getting to our ground are usually idiots that don't actually check geographically where Selhurst Park is. I've heard lots of times stories of away fans moaning they missed kick off because the travelled to Crystal Palace and were laughed at when asking passers by where to find Selhurst Park.
Our stadium is not hard to find and not hard to get to. The claim is simply rubbish. Norwood Jn is on the London Bridge to Horsham, West Croydon, Caterham, Tattenham corner lines etc, etc. Selhurst station is also serviced from London and Thornton Heath is easy to get to. Sehurst Park itself is not hard to find in a car with a satnav and a brain!

Never understood this bollocks about Selhurst being hard to get to.
As has been said three mainline stations,If you drive yes can be a problem, but if I drive to an away game I leave plenty of time to find parking.all these new idenikit stadiums built out of town are all pants,no pubs/takeaways/shops...yeah we need a major makeover but give me selhurst on match day just can't beat it.
I live north of Bedford now,I park my car at the station get to St Pancras northern line to London Bridge Norwood Junction one stop.

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.
