That may well be true, but just as Marxist and Trotskyist are used in the same way by others, sometimes these words are actually a fairly accurate description of political identity. I'd say Benn and Watson were Brownites, Watson in particular as he helped boot Blair out. Umunna actually nominated Liz Kendall for leader (despite her only getting 4.5% of the vote in the end) so I daresay that's because his politics is in the Kendall/Blair region just to the left of centre. My point is that 'Blairite' is a misleading term. Does anyone refer to David Owen or Shirley Williams or Hugh Gaitskill as 'Blairites' (assuming that any of Labours 'affiliate members' know who these people are) when they share many characteristics with the man who would follow them in Labour? I don't believe that there are many, if any 'Blairites', in the party. I do t believe that Tony Blair had an ideological basis that spawned a devout following. I believe that Tony Blair was a pragmatist when it came to understanding what was necessary to win elections. I also believe that he did instigate a social agenda that was left wing and at odds with Tory policy at the time (enacting Human Rights legislation, allowing unmarried couples to adopt, allowing homosexual civil partnerships, etc). For the record, I don't think Tom Watson holds any distinct political agenda. I think he is more concerned with holding power and being thought of as 'authoritative' than being a great reformer or political thinker. I think Hilary Benn has conviction, has an agenda and is a decent person & MP. I wouldn't vote for him because he is Labour and the offspring of one of the most dangerous MP's in history but nonetheless respect him.

Now that the Home Secretary is proposing that all UK businesses make lists of foreign employees can we accept that the problem isn't restricted to Labour?

"A hard-left activist is preparing to sue the Labour Party’s general secretary, claiming that the party briefed her suspension to the media. Jackie Walker, who was first suspended in May over alleged antisemitism, has set up a crowdfunding page online to pay for the legal action, raising more than half of the £10,000 target by last night." Sounds like 10,000 pieces of evidence to me. Or maybe just 5,000 with the others being against the mainstream 'right wing' Labour.

Actually no there is. It's a lot less cringeworthy. These are students after all. It's what they do. The Facebook lot didn't have that excuse.
