Very sad today and this considering I've never met the great man. First name I looked for on match day if I'm not going. Make sure to tell my Grandad how great his beloved club are doing. Thank you and RIP staffie.
Other girls may try to take me away, |

I was shocked and very much saddened to learn of this awful news earlier this morning. Although I never met him personally, staffie and I exchanged a fair number of PMs over the years and he was always very pleasant and helpful with anything I asked. Indeed, 'helpful' is the word I keep reading time and time again in these tributes, so it's plain to see how obliging he was with everyone else, too. It may only be a small thing, but what I really liked about staffie's posts and PMs was that he always ended them with a smiley face. Like he was happy to be of help and hoped we were happy with whatever he'd done for us, which we invariably were. Service with a smile every time, literally, while asking nothing in return. I'm so sorry I never got the chance to meet staffie, or to buy him any of the pints I promised myself I'd get him one day if our paths ever crossed. But I do feel proud and privileged to have known him in the small way that I did, through the pages of this site and our shared love of this great club. My sincerest condolences to staffie's family, friends and colleagues, wherever they may be. He was a truly special person who will never be forgotten, and will be greatly missed by us all.

I'm not sure the club would necessarily sanction an official acknowledgment of this sad event. However, staffie is clearly well loved by many fans for what he's done for them over many years. A popular way of marking a sad event like this is a minutes applause during a game, so can I very humbly and respectfully suggest a minutes applause during the Hull game? S for staffie is the nineteenth letter of the alphabet, so the 19th minute would be fitting. Just a suggestion. RIP staffie, you'll be missed.

Absolutely terrible news, thoughts are with his family. A man who contributed more to this site and helped more Palace fans (especially those supporting from afar) than almost anyone else, the Hol will never be the same. You'll be sorely missed, staffie.

Very sad to hear the news about staffie. My condolences to all his friends and family. I found his last post heartbreaking. I didn't meet him, but what a fantastic person to dedicate so much time to helping people out and always putting others first. Over the past couple of years I've really appreciated all the links as it's very tricky to get home for games. Seeing the Selhurst crowed every week is always a great reminder of home for me. God bless.
