We disagree without rancour. I think I have made one or two reconsider some of their preconceptions, given more recent responses.

Without checking, I have no idea, but they cover these stories pretty regularly. Repetitive news is though no longer news. It becomes a subject for a different kind of analysis. Not too sunny today, is it? We got soaked last evening on a bowls green not far from you! yeah I know, it p****ed down from early evening..lol

The Express, or the Mail, on such matters, are about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. When I have time, I will try to find it myself, but I expect it to be very different and nuanced than you are being led to believe.

OK Wisbech, Ted has supplied one of many links to this. What weasel words have you to say about it? That it's pretty worthless, coming from where it does. The actual policy, from the BBC itself, in detail, giving the background and approach to be adopted by its management, is what is needed. Anyone who trusts the Express needs their head examined.

'Nuanced' my backside - it is a clear racist act by the BBC who we have to pay licence fees to.

There were ad a few weeks back for the BBC stating "this post is only open to Black Asian or other ethnicities" Imagine a BBC ad that said This position is only open to white Caucasian candidates Black, Asian or BAME people should not apply Edited by the silurian (30 Jul 2021 6.32pm)

Unless you know the history of every ancestor of yours, and the history of every relative of theirs for the last 2000 years, that is simply an impossible claim to make. It quite quickly includes everyone who has ever lived during that time. You do realise that it has been calculated that within 6 connections we all know everyone in the world? Apply the same logic to your family history, and you will understand why. Nothing at all obtuse involved. It's just factual. "White" people have never, and still don't, have any reason to worry about their colour. You won't change, and you have no right to decide how your successors will feel. No-one encourages anyone to feel guilty about their forbears. What a ridiculous idea. They lived at a different time, when other standards and expectations applied and need to be judged by them, and not by ours. All that is expected is that we learn and improve. Some of us can and do. Others don't, and it's them who feel the guilt. I live in Cornwall, where we have a much more diverse population than you might realise from the bare figures, which are out of date anyway. We also see a huge influx of visitors throughout the year, peaking now, who arrive from all over the UK and the world. Not that it matters. The Cornish are very used to hosting visitors and are genuinely friendly people. You don't witness any racial tensions here. I might have retired here, but I have lived elsewhere in the UK, and in other parts of the world, so am perfectly able to form an opinion. Deluded? Not a jot. Old? Regrettably a little, but still lively and fighting. Hypocrisy? You beat me hands down on that. It's the only attribute on which I concede defeat. Have you heard of genetics? You really don't have to know all your ancestors by name. You don't inherit genes from everyone in your extended family tree, or even necessarily from the direct ones either. You are talking tosh as usual. You lived in other parts of the world and decided to settle in Cornwall. Surely a man like yourself would feel more at home in Brixton or maybe Islamabad. They just old White bulls***ters there. You don't see racial tension in Cornwall because there are next to no Black people there, apart from tourist, and the Cornish are always happy to take their money. I do note that they don't accept anyone else as Cornish unless they have many generations who have been born and bred there. Laughable, since Cornish genes have spread around Britain and the rest of the world due to their former mining and sailing skills or lack of opportunities. I am among that number. My Northern European genes include plenty of Cornish.
