How many of you know who Raymond Weber is?

In 2021, Weber, a 31-year-old Black male, live-streamed himself on Facebook with murdered two White girls, one of them 15, that he had just shot in the head.

It's taken them till recently to set a date for his trial, and the media haven't made any huge racial narrative or any other narrative about it. It's been kept relatively quiet.

However, if this had been a white guy murdering two black girls on a Facebook stream you'd know about wouldn't you. You'd be hearing about racism and 'marginised groups' three ways to Sunday.

Also, because Facebook is a social media platform that the powers that be find useful they are spared from the same attention and criticism that a platform like Parler or Twitter today would get if a murder had been livestreamed on their platform.

Perhaps some people should reflect on why an 83-year-old British woman asking another women whose running a charity focused on black woman where she is from is something you know about whereas you'd never even heard of Weber.

Slightly off post but bear with me.

Back in the day I was working in local government. I was having a chat with the nice lady who ran the public baths and noted the booking sheet. Schools obviously took up much space during term time, as you would expect. However, the number of spaces slotted for women only, disability, elderly etc. meant very little left over. I asked her when white able-bodied males were supposed to use the pool. She shrugged her shoulders and said - you don't have a voice.

And there's the rub Stirling. We don't. Those folk get airtime because they shout loud. We don't, at least partly, because we don't shout at all.

There are the other facts of course, including the hateful woke zeitgeist. But we can't just quietly tut or write angry posts and expect anyone to take notice. One man stands up to this nonsense and he is labeled and pilloried. Half the population stand up...

You are right. I had never heard of him. The surprise is that you have.

Why? Because this happened in the USA, where such events rarely make the news here. Your assertions about why we don't know, made without evidence, are totally ridiculous. The idea that the colour of someone's skin affects the way their crime is reported might fit with the worldview you constantly peddle here, but this "white victim" stance you adopt is really quite offensive. I doubt you understand why though.

This is a thread about Conservative incompetence. How is that impacted by these murders.

Often agree with you but not this time.

Posts drift, get used to it.

But on Stirling's point, you are wrong if you don't think that a white male targeting black children in the US would not cause riots and international media coverage.

You're right of course.

I could obviously be wrong but I think the British are culturally quite compliant and have always had a slightly higher in-built trust of their elites than say the French for example.

I think in the socially cohesive areas there is pushback to these recent boat migrants (some of it utterly hypocritical of course). However, I don't really see anything coming of it. These choices have been made at levels far higher than local MPs.

Britain had its moment of choice back in the late sixties and early seventies and chose to trust people like Heath. Now it's just old farts like me pointing out inconvenient truths on the decline. It doesn't do us any good of course but feck it....I am what I am.

I accept both your points.

The second, whilst true, is very sad and ought not be true. The sooner it's not true the better, as what lies behind it is racism. That ought to be resisted by everyone.

Any male targeting any children in such a way ought to cause equal outrage. Whatever the colour of their skin they must be disturbed to be capable of such behaviour. It's what's on the inside, the disturbed mind, which deserves to be identified. Not what is on the surface. Continuing to see thing by groups, whose sole connection is the colour of their skin, is wrong, divisive and destructive.

Maybe. Why does it matter?

No-one forces anyone to participate. You don't have to. I don't. If the England players want to, why do you care?

How can it not matter? The sight of some millionaires kneeling for four seconds before kicking a ball is a constant reminder of how awful we, our history and our culture are. They should kneel for 90 minutes then play for 4 seconds to further highlight their concern.

I'd highlight but the ridiculousness and idiocy is consistent with every word.

It's not about the action, or alleged actions, it's about the narrative and assumed intention surrounding it.

1. 'Not accepting the answer'. The question almost definitely was not inferring that her skin colour did not constitute 'British/Englishness', it was almost certainly regarding her attire which by definition was not English/British. That is barely an anecdote let alone newsworthy. I implore any 'white English/British' person to move to I don't know, Japan, or even better a small village in Africa somewhere, attend an event with their upper class donning a beefeater costume, or England Rugby kit, and then try to sell the story to the media of the horrendous racist ordeal they suffered when asked 'where they were from' when only giving the name of where they currently resided (somewhere in Japan or Africa). Even then, just being white may be enough but it's enough to distinguish you from the majority at said event, and any question of this nature should not be pre-determined in it's motive or even offensive. I was born in Lewisham hospital and spent all my young life there. If, with two Irish parents, I chose to venture out and mingle with royalty et al dressed as a leprechaun, with a died ginger beard, carrying a shillelagh, any inference that I was something other than English would be expected and I would not repeatedly answer 'Lewisham' when questioning arrives due to the nature of my get up, that's common sense, unless of course I was angling for something to fit my narrative no matter how ridiculous.

2. The suggestion that Lady Hussey has any idea or had any intention to apologise is an uninformed assumption at best. To suggest that she was briefed, informed and obliged to as a result of her actions not aligning to the current zeitgeist/narrative is almost guaranteed regardless of her awareness.

3. A person murdering two children on a live streamed event is horrific and said individual is, again by definition, not accepted within society. Whether they have a diagnosable mental illness or are just extremely callous and driven by ulterior motives is yet to be seen however possible. Thank you for the diagnosis of 'deranged' however doctor, the insight you offer into the human mind is revolutionary.

Soooooo, to summarise, thank you for clarifying and providing a textbook example for my initial point from the first post - that the narrative surrounding both instances is racially driven. The first, an extremely mild lack of alignment to the current narrative at best, is a conclusion based upon illogical and bias determined parameters with no movement for further context or explanation as the guilty party is white and the aggrieved is not. This is headline news. The second example however is horrific crime, unimaginable to any decent human being, however as the guilty party is not white, and although the victims were, we must not even entertain the thought it could be racially motivated as this does not align with the current narrative.

Your subscription to this zeitgeist/narrative is the most perfect example of somebody seeking to 'build divisions between people that ought not be built'. It's actually quite staggering. A horrific murder is newsworthy. An awkward, poorly socially navigated interaction is not. The latter is in the news however and the former has no coverage. Any individual regardless any other identifier is able to question and probably answer as to why this is, provided they have 2 brain cells to rub together. Unfortunately, many do not, as you have exhibited.

Dealing firstly with your comments on Lady Hussey.

With respect I think you are completely missing the point, as are many people rushing to defend Lady Hussey's behaviour. I have read many similar outraged treatises in the last couple of days, some from people I have a lot of respect for.

For the sake of argument let's accept that everything you say is true. That though doesn't excuse what Lady Hussey did. It can be understood, and her position sympathised with, but not excused. The same applies to how people treat others dressed as a leprechaun or beefeater.

She probably was deliberately set up by someone with an agenda. That's not an excuse. That others in comparable situation might react the same way, is not an excuse. It might be that most of society thinks like this, but that's not an excuse either.

Whether Lady Hussey based her questioning on the colour of someone's skin, or her clothes, it remains the fact that she made assumptions on appearance alone. That's inexcusable in all circumstances and is the bottom line. What this has done is show how racism still exists at every level and is quite possibly a deliberate precursor for the Netflix documentary.

Turning now to your comments on the murder. For me you destroy any and every argument the moment you start talking about "white" or "not-white". The fact that the media use the same terminology and reasoning doesn't justify, it as they are also wrong. The fact that something is in the news, and another isn't, is evidence of that.

I excuse no-one in this, whatever the colour of their skin. In my opinion we all need to relegate such concepts to history and only discuss the crime, not what someone was wearing, their skin tones or any other arbitrary matter when they committed it, unless it helps bring them to justice.

I have often been called an idealist. Which is clearly true but unless we strive for ideals we will not progress towards them.

"I have often been called an idealist"

I almost spilt my tea when I read this , I suspect of the many things you have been called 'idealist ' is way down the list.

Don't stop providing the warm glow of comedy on these cold nights
