This will sound foolish, but what the f***'s a nap?

I think Keith Murray said it best when he rapped

I'm sure you'll agree.

Yes, it does sound foolish.

A nap is the best bet of the day, my most likely winner. All tipsters do this, if you check in your paper you will see that one of the tips has "nap" after it, and usually the next best has "nb" after it too.

Hope that helps...

Why Nap? does it stand for anything?

No idea mate. Maybe it has something to do with the card game of that name? I'm guessing here...

Just found a website with explanations of horse racing terminology. It says...

Quote
Nap - The selection that racing correspondents and tipsters nominate as their strongest selection of the day or meeting. Reputed to stand for 'Napoleon'.

So there you have it. It's French.

Going for long shots in this weekend's football...

Leeds v Man Utd = Man Utd 6/4
Bolton v Liverpool = draw 12/5
Charlton v Arsenal = draw 12/5
Chelsea v Newcastle = draw 9/4
Everton v Boro = Boro 13/8
Palace v Wolves = Wolves 5/4

OK, so the last one's not such a long shot.

LOL, good luck mate!

I'd have gone for Shellin Hill, Castle Folly, April Spirit, Saspys Lad, Joely Green, and Westgate Run. I won't back them but I'd be interested to compare how we get on!
