Youngster, until you have at least 50 years not worth listening to. I'm close to 60 years.

.

Oo, how close, my 60th anniversary is Oct 24th(away to Newcastle, lost 2-0 1964) this year.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Exactly. The club knew (and we should have known) that Olise would stay at Palace just until a better offer (both club size and salary wise) was made.

Loyalty in football can be mainly consigned to the history books because ever since the PL sold its soul to the money men, it's only ever been about money and career progression like most other jobs.

If we want to attract real talent like Olise then we can expect to have to include release clauses in the contract. There's no reason to cut off our noses to spite our faces by refusing to provide such contracts.

Someone mentioned Ward as a loyal servant, and whilst I accept that his Christian faith probably has something to do with his loyalty, I would proffer that Ward surely knew that he was well-off staying with a struggling to middling PL club given his limited footballing ability.

As several posters have said, only we fans are loyal - everything and everyone else is transitory.

We move on.

This is the reality of football now. Whilst not begrudging players the opportunity to, let's face it. earn as much as they can it feels increasingly as though the rich clubs just use everyone else as an extended scouting system. Maybe it was always the same but release clauses make it all so much easier for them.

The club knew last year that he would be gone this year. He could have left for £35 mill last year so has gained us an extra £15-20mill by staying another year.

He has gone to one of the top 5 clubs in world football. Nothing to be annoyed about.

I can't dispute your appraisal of the situation and am not annoyed.
What I do despair of is the lack of loyalty and principles in football, to which I'm sure you could retort 'find another sport.'

All we know is that CPFC has agreed a fee with Bayern. What we don’t know is what Olise thinks about it and will not until he either signs or informs the Club of his wishes. This may not happen until after the Olympics.
We know his agent wants a deal done before he is suspended but as many were surprised when Olise signed the new contract, he may have other thoughts and decide to stay on. If this happens those slagging him off will look rather foolish.
For my part there is only one ‘Judas’ who kissed his Arse shirt when relegating Palace and forgetting how we dragged him up from the mud fields of Greenwich.

Yeah it just sounds like Bayern have met the release clause. Maybe Chelsea did the same last year. So it's up to olise to decide if he wants to go or not. Obviously his representatives would be speaking to Bayern to see what they are offering etc....

So yeah entirely up to olise what he wants to do. Surprised teams like man city or arsenal have not come calling aswell.

I fully accept his desire and right to get paid more.
I simply have no interest in him if he leaves Palace.

A player who spends five minutes at a club, mostly injured, and then moves on cannot expect much love from fans. He will get zero from me. This is particularly so since the club had the potential for much better things next season.

I fear we will now return to bang average without him.

Trying to look at the positives I suppose Ayew and Schlupp can look at more game time from their perspective...
