The problem as we have seen from 4th Choice Vieira its not who you want, its who you can get, sadly
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

We can wish for all the managers we want but we'll only get the one who's prepared to work with the squad we've got, the Academy options and a limited transfer budget and, to me, that spells

A name thats cropped up a couple of times & is very left-field, Oliver Gastner, the ex Eintracht Frankfurt boss.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

The season has been reduced to what feels like a relegation battle ahead. That should be enough to prompt Parish into finding the funds for loan players to strengthen the squad. However , to sell one of our main playing assets in this window would present more risk and I think would be a huge mistake. I agree though that there is also a risk with changing manager at this point. I would prefer to see Roy get us out of this mess. But if it all goes wrong tomorrow, I don’t see that happening. Given the form of the now few teams below and around us and our current 9 or so point cushion over the bottom two, I believe we have as good a chance of staying up as any. It is only half way through the season and based on the normal survival mark of 36 points, which I’m sure is too high for this season, we probably need another 3-4 wins and a few draws to survive. Does anyone think that Roy and the current squad can’t achieve that? Changing a manager at any stage comes at a cost, so far better to spend any available funds on players not new managerial contracts for the likes of the ‘Coopers’, If Roy were to walk away, or is shown the door, which I hope won’t be the case, let Mac see us through ‘till the end of the season. The performances against Manure, Citeh, the Spuds and in part, the Weed and Scoucers, I believe is enough to give us confidence in our ability to stay up. Meantime, a few loanees, with options, wouldn’t go amiss. My messages to Roy would be to use the the full squad available. If players are on the bench then they are good enough to play, especially the promising youngsters, if only to keep fresh legs on the pitch. Oh, and get Ray off the bench and use the technical area and start coaching instead of scratching your chin! COYP

If Roy didn't have history with us he'd be gone. One win in three months (and even that against a team who had lost every game at home at that point) is just awful. We have four wins all season. Two against teams in the relegation zone, one win we got lucky in against Wolves, with only the Man Utd really standing out. We can point to the plucky draw against Man City, but really we're fortunate not to be worse off as at least half our draws we were probably lucky not to lose. In three out of four appearances off the bench Franca has looked like he has something, but still Roy won't given him more than a very brief cameo. As AERO said, I'm not sure any result tomorrow will make a huge influence on Parish's thinking either way. We should win tomorrow because Brentford are struggling to put a team out and we now have our two best players back. We are going to be the stronger team tomorrow and Roy, for once, needs to get us playing like it. No excuses.

I don't see the problem with replacing Roy, he is due to leave in the summer, so if there is a suitable candidate out there then it would make sense to change now, giving the new man competitive matches to put his stamp on things rather than pre season friendlies which are not a good indication of what's to come.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to appointment some manager off the radar like Brighton did and start a new era of playing attractive footballers including some of our academy players ? I can dream !!!

Exactly, we also have a head start on three poor teams who should finish below us regardless. Originally posted by daven
