My goodness, yes, you are right.

I had completely forgotten but now you have mentioned it I do remember a Rashford penalty miss in that game.

I had to watch the YouTube footage of the spot kick again to see which post he hit but your memory is spot on, he hit the same upright but about half way up on that occasion, same short steps stutter in his run up too.

Nothing justifies kicking a man when he is down.

Yes on all points. Well said.

Those yobs are not 'fans' or supporters of a football match. They made the occasion an excuse to get drunk and create mayhem. Must have been frightening for anyone accidentally caught up in it.

Their behaviour was/is an embarrassment for our country as a whole and it brings shame on all true football supporters.

Agreed but The FA and Wembley National Stadium Ltd. also need to take a long hard look at themselves and furthermore explain why they were so woefully under resourced with stewards, and relevant security measures outside the stadium and police numbers and stewards inside the stadium.

A) To prevent ticketless supporters getting anywhere near the outer concourses and…
B) Not having the necessary resources within the stadium to deal with the matter properly once they had got inside.

The comments and replies on this FA tweet give some insight into how poorly organised the FA and Wembley Stadium were.for the game.

The did well to reach the final it's just annoying that the manager and team failed to learn the lesson of 2018 against Croatia. You should not sit back when you get a goal try and finish the game off without being suicidal.

we played well for the 20 minutes after the goal but you could see the Italians were just working us out after that we were on the back foot and the better team won in the end.

Kane should have come off at half time for some reason he started really well and then ran out of steam. If I was Spurs I would cash in on Kane now.

Rashford should not have been in the squad he lost form in the second half of the season at United and didn't deserve to be there. Henderson should not have gone.

We've now had to great chances to win largely because we had favourable draws and we have blown it.

I can't get excited about this team which is efficient but not entertaining in tournament football.

Hats off to GS. losing a final on penalties was a hell of an achievement. Just can’t help wondering what would happen if Guardiola was coach?

I've only seen one video of a fella being kicked when he was down, and that was one of the scumbags who bundled through a disabled entrance to force his way into the stadium without a ticket. I have no sympathy for him or any of the other scum who got t***ted by the fans inside who were helping the security staff push them back.

I've also seen an edited down version of the same video shared on social media claiming that it is England fans kicking an Italy fan, so there is a lot of misinformation being shared.

Blokes will always fight but what shocked me most was that there is a video of the same breach from the outside and there's a dad with a really young kid in his arms trying to bundle in. I can't get my head around what sort of person walks their child into a situation like that.

However, all of this was predictable, fans without tickets jumping turnstiles happens in club football all the time, so it's a massive failure of policing to let it happen at Wembley. I wouldn't take my kids to an England match at Wembley, which is really sad.

The FA were well aware that a large number of supporters without tickets turning up to "soak up the atmosphere" was always foreseeable.

Nothing was done to deter this prior to kick off by the FA or Police.

In videos I saw people around the stadium were all drinking out of tins, I doubt anyone did anything to cut the sale of alcohol nearby.

There are clear inadequacies and the authorities are now trying to shift the blame.

The likelihood of people without tickets trying to enter the ground was likely to be increased as a residual consequence of having strict limits on the numbers allowed into the stadium and surrounding bars.

Similar issues occurred at Trafalgar Sq. Perhaps relaxing social distancing restrictions on pubs for the night may have helped?

I was offered a ticket for £512 face value. Seems like the FA are happy to fill their own pockets but didn't pay for enough security.

I presume someone has said it, probably a lot of people, but can we please never, ever, hear 'football's coming home' ever again. It's not big and it's not clever.

I was going to post 'Mickey Mouse Cup' last night but I thought: too soon.

I haven't heard anyone say it, but I totally agree with you. It was a rubbish concept and just made England and their fans look foolish.

All because it is generally thought the game was started here.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
