It almost looks like we are just starting to think about it now. Equivalent of doing your Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. May end up with some bargains, but more likely to end up with what no one else wants or nothing at all.

If we have a bad start (again) you have to say we have reaped what we have sown.

Too true I fear. Everton Manure and Spurs, all by mid September nit looking good

At the end of the window if we have Camarasa, a decent new forward, a new right back, Sorloth gone and Wilf still here it would be better than I expected, hope it happens.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

As I have discovered in this transfer window "There's many a slip twixt cup and lip". And feasibly more slips.

I can see us going in to panic mode again with over paying for average players.

A lot of the names we have been linked with and the so called costs if true shows this.

It's left over players others don't want same every transfer window.

Just have to wait and see i really hope we have wised up and it has taken so long due to being very good deals.

Other deals elsewhere affect us too.

Maguire to Manure for 80 millions how ridiculous is that.

Maguire is our guarantee of 3 points against Leicester we have got used to it.

Now it is up in flames....

There might be a lot of moaning after the transfer window closes with those normally as docile as a donkey on Barmouth beach hyperventilating and venting their spleens.

After my previous negative post, thought I'd just say that I feel a little optimism in the air today. If we can offload some dead wood like Sorloth, maybe even Tekkers and Wickham and bring in the likes of Canarasa, Watkins, Maupay(unliey),young Banks, Chalov and a right back, I think we'd have had a tremendous transfer window. Maybe I'm optimistic as I'm laying in my sun lounger in Tenerife, but I'm hoping for some positive breaks over the next few days.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sorloth to Trabzon, surely 1 striker coming in' by bexleydave

Club has been linked with Alfredo Morelos, Neal Maupay and Fedor Chalov, all would cost around 15-20 million, all below 23 years old and rather diminutive, at least not target men in the sense of Benteke.

Am I forgetting someone?

There's also Welbeck a free player, also a fast forward, able to play on several positions, he wants very high wages though and the overall cost of paying him 5 million up front and 5 million in yearly wages for 3 years would take the total cost close to the cost of the 3 above, who offer more stability regarding possible injuries and hugh re-sale values.

I don't know why the club didn't go for Breel Embolo, who went from Schalke to Borussia Moenchengladbach for just 10 million and pretty low weekly wages, a former Champions League wonder kid with Basel, still only 22. Or why club didn't move for Aleksandr Isak, 19 year old who went from Borussia Dortmund to Real Sociedad for just 6 million.

Mbwanna Samatta from Genk is still a great option, up to 10 million, a good price. So are Baghdad Bounedjah, Albian Ajeti, Alfred Finnbogasson or Roger Assale.

I would also look at Sheffield Wednesday's Lucas Joao. He doesn't have great numbers, but because he has been played a lot as winger. When he plays center forward, he does very well for the Championship and could make the jump yo the PL. He's better than Che Adams in my opinion and much more agile than Benteke. Sheffield wants 8 million for him.

We've also been linked with Oliie Watkins or Michail Antonio, who can play at times as strikers, but I think someone will come in as a striker by trade.

Who would you prefer?

I’d stay out of the sun if I were you.

We’ll be grateful for 2 signings before Thursday at this rate.

Shambles, absolute shambles

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Too soon to call it a shambles, let’s wait until Thursday? Parish and the board doesn’t have a billionaire it’s back pocket, unlike many of our competitors so Parish & co have to be very careful in what they spend and how they spend it. Also the American owners want out, so a tricky cash flow situation?
