Steve Paris - Chairman. No problem. Steve Parish - working Chairman. Problem. Well why the f*** haven't we brought this Steve Paris fellow in then??!

Ok, the failure to get a back up striker has now come back to bite him, but it wasn't for the lack of trying within our budget. Hopefully Roy can turn our record breaking worst start around and come next August we'll all be looking forward to our 6th consecutive season in the most competitive league in the world.

But looking for support on twitter whilst treating people like fools with badly judged statements lacking credibility isn't the best way to go about it. The tweet about us never having it so good when many of his twitter young followers have faced falling real incomes, little chance of owning a home in the near future and fewer career prospects sounds more like a message to wind people up rather than be taken seriously. Edited by Rudi Hedman (26 Sep 2017 3.34pm) Hang on mate, that's a massive leap there. None of those things have anything to do with this conversation or Steve Parish and it's completely irrelevant. In terms of this football club he is right. We've never been in the top division this long, we've never had this many international players in our squad and fairly recently we were back at Wembley for an FA Cup final. As Palace fans he's completely correct.

Not to mention, it's not like there is a queue of uber-rich Palace fans wanting to take over the club. Even if there were, we still wouldn't have a striker. Sure, we could probably find ourselves a Chinese businessman or we could see if the Americans want to take over fully, but I'd much rather stick with the Palace fan who has got us to the position where we're moaning we don't have adequate backup for our £30million pound Belgian international striker.

Otherwise it is not results based at all.

I accept that on paper we are doing better than any previous Palace side has done. But.... it is a big but, with all the TV money we get in we bloody should be doing better than before, however sides that have had less access to that pot of gold than us are making a much better fist of it. Comparison is the key word here. It doesnt help that the weed have 7 more points than us already im sure. The more worrying trait is the ineffectiveness in the tansfer windows that we have had access to the money for. Short of Sakho M, Cabaye, Benteke, and Wilf just where has the money gone, please bare in mind that is over 5 seasons with easily 500 million in TV money during that time ? We have consistently failed to get in the targets that everyone knows we need, this window the striker and Goalie being a case in point, and yet people see the weed getting Tim Krul as a back up ??!! You also take a look at the bench WBA had at Arsenal last night, how many strikers did they have, surely by now our squad should be as good as theirs, but the sad truth is, it isnt, and the blame for that has to lay at someone's door. Me personally I get the impression the gaze of SP is elsewhere at present, and then when he is forced to take stock and thinks "oh f***ing hell, not again" and has to panic buy. I think thats why maybe DF have been brought in to be that link. Who knows, but something aint right no matter how positive you want to be, the facts and no points speak for themselves.

Don't talk nonsense. Chairman aren't part of the management team or the playing side. They aren't replaced when results go the wrong way. As much as you foolishly might want that to happen, it isn't going to.

The only striker WBA had on the bench was Salomon Rondon and I think he has only scored 1 goal in the last 25 league games for them ! Edited by Willo (26 Sep 2017 4.36pm)

As much as you foolishly might want that to happen, it isn't going to. In the vast majority of clubs you are correct that the chairman isn't part of the management team or playing side but we seem to have a chairman that likes to get far more involved in the footballing side of the club than most other chairmen. It seems that our chairman is the one that dictates the style of play that we are going to adopt and hires a new manager accordingly. When the style doesn't work he changes his mind on the playing style, sacks the manager and brings in another that will manage to the new / old style. If rumours are to be believed our players have a direct line to the chairman and he makes decisions based on their complaints and he also seems to be heavily involved in which players we buy and sell so it seems to me that he is very much a part of the management team
