You are kidding, right?

Labour overspent and you know it.

They did, although in a large part the problems inherent in that were established by the Banking Crisis, as the government at the time, wrongly, was propping itself up on cheap credit - Rather than utilising revenue generated through taxation.

Indeed, New Labour had continued the Conservative strategy of cutting taxes as a means of establishing support (and were clawing back income via stealth taxation and public borrowing).

Mrs May is busy and will only be available for the most reckless and expensive items which she can sign off without having to look at them.

Top of her busy day will be being briefed with the re-introduction of food rationing as a result of brexit.

I have started a queue already.

It is ok, she has found her own personal money tree with a couple of billon for the DUP.

Opps sorry that is only for her personal use.

The National Debt has continued to grow under the Tories, and was not a record under Labour.

The Worldwide 2008 crisis was partly based on unsustainable credit lending and structured financial products meant to underwrite them.

UK debt partly went up post crisis as Osbourne could restructure some of the UK's loans using cheap credit post 2008.

The most telling feature on the strength of the UK economy was that Fitch downgraded the UK financial strength from AAA to AA+ in 2013 and we have never got it back.

It does not matter why, I am giving him credit for restructuring.

In say late 2010 you suggest that his thought process would have gone..."hmmm this debt was not accrued Labour so I will not take advantage of low rates"?

You are looking at finance through the rather foggy lens and distorting lens of party politics.

That's not what I'm suggesting. I'm saying that Tory policy, successful or otherwise, was forced upon them by what they inherited from the last Labour government. That isn't party politics, that is a fact.

Tory policy was not 'forced' upon them they had a clear run.

The tories said they would clear up the debt and they wished to be judged by their record on it.

However austerity does not work never has and never will without stimulus applied (keynes).

They went on a borrowing binge Osborne borrowed more than all the previous labour governments put together.

Since Mrs May has been PM she has signed up to dubious 'vanity' projects with the common denominator being that they all may not do what they are supposed to if they work at all.

Trident Hinkley HS2 Heathrow how much is that so far 500 billions?

Lobbyists and foreign companies making hay while the sun shines so much for brexit won't change that.
