I've been thinking that for a while. Perhaps something is rotten in the state of Selhurst that we don't know about?

What Sam said last night was telling. "I've been here 10 days and need to assess the players. I'm learning things very quickly' In other words i've got more junk here than i thought

Well he plays Wilf on the left, thats f***ing worse then anything else.... And still plays Ward on the wrong side too with Kelly starting, so don't give me the "he knows how to manage" s***e

So you put Kelly and Townsend on the left.

You may as well stamp "attack down the left at it"

Kelly is at least honest, looks like a Dalmatian chasing a balloon most of the time, but honest.

The last time Townsend did anything quickly and with a purpose it resulted in him getting a driving ban.

Ward and Wilf are better on the right, but they are also better on the left than our other options. The side needs some balance, if we had a decent left back and other winger who was performing then There is little doubt Ward and Wilf would be automatic on the right.

So he's spent a month sneakily preparing a dossier on us and presumably watching all our games, then says 'We might need to go into the transfer market' and throws James Collins as a solution?

This is Alan Pardew's mess. Especially his inability to have the insight to see the value of players like Jedinak, whose lack of presence IMO is a major problem. I like what I'm seeing from BFS, despite the disappointing results so far. But will he have enough time? Pardew has created a timid, unconfident, spoilt bunch of pansy losers, whose fitness levels have always been deficient because of an obviously third rate fitness and training regime managed by Pardew. I can imagine it. But with guys like Jedinak in the group the deficiencies would have been hidden, because his very presence demands toughness and 100% commitment - or he'll say something...with that steely look in his eye.

I hope BFS has enough time. Not looking forward to passing Brighton on the way down - that should be enough motivation, but probably not for these players.

No, we need to let Bolton win, we need a cup run like a hole in the head....Play all kids at Bolton, we can't afford injuries

In the circumstances I'm not sure that would be the best tactic. Allardyce has a fortnight without PL football to begin to really stamp his authority on the team and Bolton is the ideal match to really experiment with formation and tactics, because the result is unimportant. Play a whole load of bods who are never going to feature in the PL and he'll learn nothing. Far more productive to treat it as a training match.

Options running out.
Dann out. Benteke slow and ineffective and now "injured". Townsend lacking direction.
Tompkins looking to be at 70%. Mandanda? Back to France (who knows?) Kelly running around like a Dalmatian chasing a balloon (brilliant analogy).
Last night's first half performance was dire. Second half better, but what goes on in the minds of our players when we equalise? We become statues. This is "the winter of our discontent".

The collective loss of confidence of a year of poor results?

There was a spark with the new signings, but without fixing the team's structural problems which have been obvious for over a year, the summer's signings were never going to provide more than a temporary blip. We are where we are in the table because the team deserves to be there.

Unfit, lacking in confidence, defensively awful. Those problems will take Sam a while to sort out.

That pretty much sums it up for me and I don't think there's any question about the loss of confidence.

What the help does the fact that he's Welsh number one have anything to do with his ability as opposed to the Argentine number 3 or4th choice (a big fan of Jules though)
IMO his performances this season has been better than steves and certainly better than many outfield superstars oh and from memory did quite a good job in the Euros

Preparing a dossier yes but he don't know the players characters and whether they will respond to the fight. I think he knows now though. I can see him trying to offload Townsend who seems to have poisoned the dressing room
