There is something amusing about this yet also quite tragic.

It's all going to end in tears. And there was a post on here earlier about Mrs t's death taking the heat off that silly bitch youth commissioner who spouted off on twitter. Well she resigned [Link]

What's thee odds that Paris Brown is on the next series of i'm a celebrity?sory to go off topic.

It's kinda telling I think that most of the individual posters on here and the bbs - about 70 per cent - I reckon, have her down as someone who did more harm than good.

Now nearly all of us old enough posters would have been in the better off South East during 1979-90. Yet still so many have her down as a negative overall.

Thus, It stands to reason that the Thatcher wasn't good for the UK voices in the celtic countries, the Midlands, Yorkshire and the Norh East - places that really did feel the full force of her economic policies - must be frighteningly higher.

We can't be all wrong, can we?

or right Kerms ?????

She was so bad that she won three General Elections with the 1983 one a total landslide. Who will ever beat that?

Is all this delight in the demise of an 87 year old woman with dementia proportionate or indeed seemly ??

Not too much class on display is there ?

It'd bee a lot more vibrant if it had been a 50 year old woman.

Whatever you thought of her as a PM or the mythical creature she has grown into she is hardly up there as historys greatest monster

Well she did order the sinking of the Belgano, outside of the exclusion zone, killing several hundred people and possibly a war crime (throws cat out into the crowd of pidgeons).

Of all the old cock and bull, truth, half truth and damn lie I have read about Mrs T my favourite thing is still my mate offering condolensces on her death to Mr T, Face and Howlimg Mad Murdoch on his FB page..

I would suggest the order to sink a warship that may or may not be a threat isnt exactly up their with the actions of Saddam, Mugabe or and Assad and even they arent exactly going to make World Biggest C*nt in World Leaders Top Trumps

Dont get me wrong - in my yoof I was very Stand Down Margaret - I was one of her children after all by accident of DOB so was affected by her as a child and young adult but I simply cannot understand how people are so blinkered after all this time to not see the complete picture of the woman and the political landscape and social structure at the time that she and her ilk operated in.

You could quite easily blame the left wing for its ridiculous self implosion throughout the period which consistently failed to protect or act in the best interests of the working class or the ordinary citizens of the country - the labour party failed as much as Thatcherism created a sink or swim society

You would think Britian was some kind of golden utopia whwre streets were paved with gold and we all loved each other unconditionally until she got her claws into it to read some of the stuff on her and elsewhere

Selective political amnesia, blind party ideology or just plain stupidity and ignorance seem to be the order of the day whichever way you turn which is why I am aiming to stay out of it all

Whilst all that is fairly reasonable it does not excuse her turning the mentally ill into the homeless nor a plethora of other attacks on the poor and vulnerable under her watch. No mitigating circumstances there. Hence, the vitriol.

Bush won two elections. That must put him up there with FDR, JFK, Washington and Lincoln.

I'll always be thankful for her part in taking down Socialism in the UK and elsewhere.

You should really thank the labour party, during the early 80s they went on a 'rampage' expelling members of militant and the far left factions of the labour party. As soon as it became apparent that Militant was a growing threat to the status quo of the Labour party Kinnock and the reformers were ruthless in their purge.

Contry to popular belief Labour did far more to eliminate socialism from main stream politics than the Conservatives.

I'm one of the older posters around during Thatcher's time and it's always been much more trendy to hate her than love her ever since she took control. Very easy to do when no one knows what Michael Foot and co would have done to the country in her place.

Ask the same questions regarding Tony Blair after he pegs it and you'll think he was worse than Thatcher (he was).

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I would also imagine that the demographic of a football fans' website might be more left- than right-leaning overall.

Not at all - but she is certainly not the first or last politician or leader of government who has taken political ideology into policy without consdering human consequence..

The good of the country, is not always the same as what is good for the people of that Country.

Latest example is the austerity measures, the individual will think they are crap I know I do, but it has to happen for the good of the countries economy as a whole. We simply could not have gone on as we were, oh and on the subject of money, you know that rebate we still get from Europe who was Champion for that cause? Ted heath? Tony Benn? Tony Blair even…..not effin likely.

Of course she did unpopular things, but they needed to be done, she wasn't in politics for herself she was in it for the country. No leader since then has been as immensely proud to be British as she was.

And Kerm buddy try not to be so condescending, just because my opinions differ from yours, it doesn't make them wrong, ill informed, or stupid as you inferred with a previous post.

My wife's father was a miner and lost his job etc when the pit closures hit town. Even she can see the good work that you fail to see, and she would have more reason than about 90% of the posters on here who slag her off, (who never even came close to living under her tenure as PM) to not like the women, but not letting personel feeling get in the way, she can see that she did do good.

I wonder if all Maggie’s critics will be so scathing, when a money grabbing,lying t w a t t , war criminal like Blair dies ?
