I would trust John Simpson to tell me the truth as he sees it every day. I wouldn’t trust Dominic Cummings to even recognise the truth if it hit him in the face. He truly has a history built on lies. I regard Cummings as one of the most despicable people ever to disgrace the political scene, but I'm not sure he's a liar. Stand to be corrected.

Did you think he was lying about his trip to Northumbria? Was he not hated by the left then? Seems to me, they did not believe him then but many are now hanging on his every word

I can't remember, did he lie about being in Durham or make up a silly excuse once he was discovered. As with many in politics, the greatest critics become admirers when it suits the narrative of the day. It is no surprise that we had poor leadership during Covid, if you look at the Shadow Cabinet at the time would be difficult to make a winning argument the outcome would have been any better had they been in government
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I'm hardly Johnson's biggest fan over Covid as was apparent at the time. However, at least Johnson put his foot down and ensured that the lockdowns stopped.....You only had Christmas free of lockdown because of his insistence. Labour and all the scared maskers would have locked you down until the summer....Well, some of them even beyond that. Anyone who tells you that Labour are anything other than another bunch of useless t***s is trying to sell you something. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Nov 2023 7.59pm)

A whole day of the covid enquiry with Whittey and his derogatory comments about Boris are the the main BBC headline. It was Sir Patrick Vallance giving evidence today. His testimony is based on diaries and notes made at the time. He is not a politician. He is a scientist whose life is devoted to finding the truth. Assisting the enquiry to do that is not going to see him lying. I would trust Patrick Vallance before 100 Boris Johnson’s. His evidence confirms what others have said, and what we witnessed ourselves. Johnson failed to act on scientific advice, had a poor understanding of what the situation and risks were and, like some posters here still do, thought he knew better. He allowed his political concerns to interfere with what was his clear public duty as determined by the science. The BBC reporting it is what is expected of them. What what you want them to do? White wash Johnson? Edited by Wisbech Eagle (20 Nov 2023 9.05pm)
