You make a good point. Once Brexit is decided IF we impose strict immigration limits instead of an open door policy I think it will benefit everyone really, and will offer a period of stability.

My concern is that the government has its cheap labour numbers in mind and will attempt to achieve those numbers come what may. Already as EU numbers drop, due to fears of not being able to stay here, that number is being replaced by non EU. Will they always find a way to keep that show in the road?

At least outside of the EU that's one less layer of the onion to peel away though.

I think your fears are well founded.

We are the victims of our own success as a culture.
With the invention of the pill, better educated and less religious people have fewer children.

Unfortunately, that has been catastrophic in terms of labour force and our ability to compete in global markets.
The world as a whole needs to rapidly cut birth rate but in a twist of irony, the Northern European has caused his/her very existence to be threatened by leading the way.
Our best hope is to go against the grain and have more children while the poorer and more populous countries cut theirs. I should add that this might only work if we adopt an isolationist policy which involves avoiding interracial relationships as many cultures/religions already choose to do.

Do globalists care what genes the workforce/consumer has?
Do they care that the water will run out making us turn to expensive and polluting desalination plants?

Will they care when the planet consists of shantytowns, wind farms, solar panels and huge agricultural areas to feed the vast population with not a wild animal in sight?

They will always find a way to make a profit from our misery.

I heard a theory yesterday that whilst Trump just shot his mouth off as he always does when criticised he, or more likely his strategists, have seen that this might work for them, which is why he is now "doubling down" and ramping up the rhetoric.

What was suggested was that he will now try to tarnish the whole of the Democratic party with this brush by claiming that they are now controlled by the type of politics espoused by these ladies. Thus the Democrats are now closet communists and enemies of the people. The suggestion is that, as in 2016, his election strategy will be to make his opponent look to have more faults than he does. He will concentrate on making negative slurs and not care about what people think of him, so long as his opponent looks worse. It's started already with "Sleepy Joe Biden" etc etc. He did it with Hillary and all the accusations. He did it with Obama and the stupid "birthing" thing. The sad thing is that so many cannot see through it and repeat these things. Even on here! "Crooked Hillary" etc etc. It's a deliberate tactic taught to him by Roy Cohn, who took it himself from the Goebbels playbook. The idea that a US President adopts tactics devised by the Nazis appalls me, but that seems to be the truth.

Yes, I by no means think its a bad strategy for him. The data out there on demographics, especially including who did and who didn't come out to vote in the mid terms factors in. I don't see it damaging him in the polls, and so there will be no reason, beyond decency, to back away from it, but that's not the order of the day.

The Dems best response strategically would be to say nothing. Anything they say in response will be pounced on, and will fuel Round 2,3,4.. Saying nothing would make it harder for him to frame the party around these women and would at least mean that whoever wins the nomination will be the focus. You're never going to win a fight with Trump, because that's his wheelhouse and his popularity is built on that. He will get away with behaviour that others won't, and his behaviour will be excused where others wouldn't. That is his essence. He wants to make these four women, or rather for these four faces to be front and centre.

It's quite unusual for a president not to see out their 8 year term. The economy is good. Trump isn't 'popular' but right now I'd say he's probably popular enough, and that 2020 is currently his election to lose.

Cheap labour helps nothing more than off-setting the inherent inflation of fiat currency that we all continually suffer (it's a deliberate tax!). Any social impact is irrelevant as those who make the rules live elsewhere.
As you've just posted, the government will do all it can REGARDLESS of the impact on the many.....which ultimately makes voting pointless.............and that's the game!

Sadly.

I certainly agree with you on population. The growth levels are very worrying. We're a planet of limited resources, and even drinking water will eventually become an issue for more and more nations. Wave goodbye to the rainforest, sea life in our over fishes seas and of course climate is a looming issue that may well replace other concerns over the coming decades.

I understand your take on birth rates in certain regions and demographics, but I wonder what will happen in terms of numbers in the big picture. It's possible that the earth will eventually throw up its own solution. A pandemic of some kind, who knows. There's never been more travel between nations, so such a thing isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Not as though I want such a thing to happen. I'm just wondering if the ingredients are in the mix to make such an eventuality more likely.

Certainly. It doesn't help the common man shall we say, only those pulling the strings and making bank. I am perhaps slightly more hopeful that the people can gain a meaningful degree of control over numbers coming in, but at the same time, I can see how the deck is stacked and always has been.

The mega rich and all of these corporate types pal around like best buds, having a significant impact while the average person has no meaningful voice. They're laughing at us.

Is that from the vote for the new head of the commission?
