Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I am glad you spotted it! It's quite deliberate and especially written for the recipient, who is frequently extremely pompous and has never apologised for his illogical attitude over the way Truss was chosen. His ‘attitude’ was his opinion to a system which was actually part of the due process of choosing a new leader designed by said political party. Edited by cryrst (02 Dec 2022 4.00am)

Sunak has lower numbers with conservatives than Truss did and Hunt's approval is even lower. The idea that they have 'a chance' is just the usual waffle from this wind up merchant. A guy who literally spends his time trolling conservatives. I mean, just who does he think is going to vote for Sunak and co?....The left? Centralists? This is up there with the idea that Mitt Romney could be the next GOP leader. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Dec 2022 7.11am)

Sunak and Hunt are clearly the worst possible combination for the Conservatives. And Truss was slung out because she wanted to reduce taxes. That fact does not seem to have registered. A Tory PM, still with the boxes piled high in the hallway, is driven out of office by an internal coup for the 'crime' of trying to reduce the tax burden on people? The powers that be want Starmer as PM. Now I believe it is because they want us back in the EU and see him as the man to do it. The Tories cannot because it would literally destroy them and they want to survive. So they leave the door open, let Starmer come in, stab Leavers in the back and the Tories can just claim complete innocence. Even with conceding my potential tin-foil hat-wearing predilections nothing else makes any kind of rational sense other than the Tories deliberately self-sabotaging themselves.

The whole situation is so irrational and so unconservative (which has been the Tories since Cameron) that I don't think any of us can blame you for thinking that. I just sit here utterly bemused by it all.

I voted in the Conservative leadership election as part of the process chosen by the party and as was my right as a member.

She was slung out because her unfunded tax cuts caused all sorts of financial problems for the voters

What she did cost a tiny fraction of the financial mess of the man who replaced her. Yet the markets were as happy as Larry about that. He's their man far more than he is yours or mine. Edited by cryrst (02 Dec 2022 4.00am) I didn't. and don't, say that the illogical attitude is his alone. It isn't, but that doesn't make it any less illogical. It's not that he shares that opinion that's pompous. It's the sense of entitlement that is present in the defence of it, that is. You can disagree with any of my opinions but they all have logic supporting them. To believe that a tiny number of the electorate should choose who is appointed as PM cannot, in my opinion, be described as anything other than illogical.
