Those who voted Brexit, and all that. maybe GB News should be given 50% of the license fee ? we need a Media-Reformation. The BBC is more rotten than the Catholic Church was in 1500 AD. And Pope Linekar is representative of the whole rotten edifice. Unsackable, unlikeable, uninspiring, unmanageable, unrepentant, unenlightened, unaccountable, unhumble, unbalanced, unpatriotic, unhinged and unleashed upon millions of unsuspecting viewers. Or I'd argue, if the public demands to see their increasingly extreme and polarised views on society represented, the demand for outlets providing this will rise. It sometimes feels as though you either identify as a manifestation of your own narcissism, hate the nuclear family and wish to see all traditional cultural and elsewise structures crumble these days to justify your own failure, or you're an equally angry right wing reincarnation of a certain Austrian from history. Some people are just left in the middle however, considering the above a circus which makes no sense and despising the polar ends of this spectrum equally. The majority of these people are found in every day circumstances with the aforementioned predominantly found online. Then you get the real weirdos, who support clubs like Palace and spend time that should be dedicated to work on one of it's supporters forums during the day In any instance, the BBC does a decent job serving people within the middle of the chaos and will increasingly come under attack from those pushing further to the ends of the political spectrum, as an almost natural and logical course. It of course always will employ individuals too, and individuals are not without any bias whatsoever, so may stray from time to time but I would suggest within a reasonable spectrum. I use it and shall continue to do until such time I think it has pushed beyond a certain limit. It's far from that for now as I see it, even if some things/articles/commentaries irk me occasionally. A very reasonable perspective.

Edited by PalazioVecchio (16 Oct 2023 5.20pm) I still want the licence fee abolished but I do think there is merit in the argument why should the BBC be the sole recipient of taxpayers money. If the money was spread amongst other broadcasters for example it would be harder for people like me to complain. For example local radio outside of the BBC is dead. Over the years various groups have complained that the BBC has a monopoly on local radio and it is almost impossible for a competitor to set up. If you then look at what the BBC calls local radio, it isn't really. Mostly it is travel news and some DJ playing chart music. Local newspapers have also complained that with the expansion of the BBC News website their trade has been impacted. I do think there is a good argument that other players should get funding in this area. Edited by Badger11 (17 Oct 2023 8.40am)

I have sat in a room full of genuine lefty types who spat in disgust at the OBVIOUS right wing bias of BBC news reporting. By your use of the word "clearly" are you, therefore, echoing their thoughts and believe there should be a shift to the left to bring it in line with more centrist views? I jest, of course, but you get the point. If the BBC are upsetting you and that unwashed lefty mob, they are arguably doing something right. I just wish they could drop all the inclusivity cr@p. It is social engineering by crow bar. Well said - it's utterly mind-blowing how caught up in their own delusions people get - "the BBC is biased, everyone else is biased, but I couldn't possibly be - I see it for what it is" is essentially what people are arguing. The 'oh-so-left-wing BBC' have spent the last few days equating protests against the actions of Israel as being supportive of Hamas, and a threat to Jews - they have had to apologise on this point already. They have consistently referred to the numbers of Isrealis killed versus the number of dead Palestinians over the last week - the good guys are killed, the bad guys just die.

Simply not true or accurate BBC website @ 3am "Hundreds of people have been killed by an explosion at a crowded hospital in Gaza City, health officials say." Not " hundreds dead "

The point being their reporter jumped to an uniformed assumption which the BBC then reported thereby misleading all those who consider the BBC as a reliable source. Another case of someone with zero knowledge of munitions saying what they want to be true Pure speculation Edited by HKOwen (19 Oct 2023 10.26am)
