Doesn't matter in the slightest. Not that you are likely to understand why. The Tory MPs don't get elected by the Tory Party membership. They get elected by us. The population as a whole. Tory MPs don't serve the Tory Party membership. They serve everyone in their constituency, whether they voted for them ,or not. The only reason that a Tory MP needs to heed the opinions of the local party members is when they come to re-select them, but, with good management Central Office can retain some discipline. What matters is how the way the Sunak government, and in particular Hunt, are enabling a recovery from the stupidity of Truss is perceived by the electorate as a whole, and not by a bunch of prejudiced activists. Whether it will be enough to rescue the Party from the Truss disaster, which compounded that already created by Johnson, remains doubtful. At least now there is a chance. You really are so patronising WE. Not everyone has your thought process. You should apologise to willo as you are coming across as a pompous know all.

With respect I shall NOT respond to patronising hogwash, casting aspersions as to my intellectual capacity. Edited by Willo (01 Dec 2022 5.30pm) You could always try to prove me wrong by raising a reasoned argument to the contrary rather than just confirming my sarcastic assertions. If they're "hogwash" then let's see why!

I must admit that when I read the snippet from the Telegraph my first thought was "who cares" as it's irrelevant who the Conservative Party members are currently favouring as the only poll that matters is from voters and not party activists. After all these are the same people that foisted Liz Truss on us

It is truly remarkable the level of contempt the Tory MPs have demonstrated towards their membership. They engineered this, it's nothing short of a political fait accompli. As I have been boring the tits off everybody about for a while now, the only possible rational explanation for what the Tories have been doing is that they want to lose the next election. Occam's razor writ large, even if it is a pound-shop version. They are gifting Labour one of the greatest election victories of all time. And for what? What s***-storm are they desperate to avoid having to deal with?

The polls do not make pleasant reading for us Conservatives but the next election is 2 years away and 2 years is a long time in politics. Edited by Willo (01 Dec 2022 7.09pm)

Not a hope of the tories winning the next election, with Sunak and co doing sweet FA about illegal immigration and swanning around the world giving your tax monies away to anyone with a sob story to tell....Sunak and co are toast in 2 years time....

It's quite deliberate and especially written for the recipient, who is frequently extremely pompous and has never apologised for his illogical attitude over the way Truss was chosen.

A chance, yes. Likely, no. But at least now a chance, when before there was none. Most likely, I believe, will be a hung Parliament but now with the Tories in the box seat to be able to lead it. By the way, I agreed to meet you for a pre-Christmas beer. Is that still on?

Bait NOT taken at all. Bait not offered. Invitation for a reasoned response to refute the assertions, refused. Which always tends to suggest to me that there isn't one.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
