It certainly provides food for thought. Once reliable antibody tests come along the results are bound to be very illuminating.

Fair enough. The initial problem, imo, was that no-one knew what we were dealing with and to a certain extent still don’t. It would appear the virus was around before we were aware and the Chinese seem to have been somewhat secretive about the whole issue. With regard to decisions being taken I can only conclude that these were on the advice of Senior Civil Servants, who the Government seem to have total confidence in (bizarrely). As an example, years ago when Poland were about to join the EU, an advisor whom I was friendly with, told the Government that only between 10-12000 would come and most would go back after a short time. This is not a dig at the Poles but trying to highlight the type of advice the Government receives. Couple that with each department working to a budget, there are disasters waiting to happen. Hopefully spider, i have grown weary of believing anything any government say, not just this lot, although they are there to be shot at as they hold the baton, but would be just as critical of the opposition if they were in charge if big mistakes, such as the PPE in the midlands, were made! To be fair, i just don"t like people in authority lying to me, giving false figures, ducking the truth, thinking we are all stupid, which ever party they belong to, but you can only shoot at the party with the power!

Reports are we had it here in December. How on gods earth could any government know how bad it was getting or going to get. Any one was going to get 'spannered' in that scenario.

No one knew what they were dealing with ( apart from the Chinese). I do not believe anyone would have dealt with it better, although mistakes have been made, possibly due to “sucking up” to big business

I saw an interview last week by Piers Morgan with Tony Blair. Morgan asked him if he attended all Cobra meetings when PM. Blair stated I’m not sure I did, I can’t remember. Not the reply PM wanted, so probably not unusual, maybe they have confidence in the other members of Cobra. To say Boris was not interested is a bit low, maybe, just maybe, he was already suffering from Covid. Let’s not forget he nearly died
