This has now become farcial and has dragged on far too long. Should have had the new manager appointed no later than the end of last week; given that the players are due to report back from pre-season fitness tests next week. It does make you wonder what is holding up the appointment. Surely you interview the relevant candidates and make a decision. How hard can it be?

Oh well, good luck to the new Southampton manager. He will need to compete for Europe whilst at the same time selling their top players, yet he must still win games with style, in a manner to keep their supporters entertained and the players happy ! i'm sure it was a combination of factors. hard to retain and attract players, though, if the word on the street is that the coach is difficult. the players all talk. as we all know, the players really have the power. combine with the supporters being bored, it's a tough sell to retain the manager.

Unless they want to see what's on offer at Southampton. Apparently we're more advanced than them, but pellergino or de Boer have no aligances to either club. It could be location based or money or even ambition.

If you three enough money at Ronaldo he'd be playing for palace next season ( w***er I wouldn't want him) same as if Sam was offered enough he'd be back . Any way hurry the f*** up and put an end to all the ifs buts and maybeys and sign a manager already .

What has this got to do with a new manager? What I'm finding irritating is these postings, if SP did or didn't, who gives a s***.

It has been reported that the reason for the sacking of Puel was Southampton's style of play, lack of goals, lack of excitement etc. It might be easier for Southampton managers to please the crowd if they don't keep selling their best players.I am thinking of Clyne, Schneiderlin, Pelle,Wanyama, Mane, Lallana, Shaw etc etc.In the circumstances Puel didn't do badly at all.
That may well be why they sacked him, but the public announcement about half way through the season that they would be reviewing his position was unfair and unprofessional. As for your second point, I couldn't agree more, what surprises though is how they keep getting away with it! Edited by sa_eagle (20 Jun 2017 2.26pm)

supposedly the players turned on him and gave up for the season. bad reports on how the players didn't like him. But not wholly substantiated. There is too much of this in the game now.

Firstly why don't you attack the person who posted a link to the article giving details of the various clubs' director remuneration instead of the person who responded saying that the article was inaccurate? Secondly if a company only has one executive director and only one director received a salary it is a reasonable assumption that the salary went to that person.

It is wrong. All monetary figures are expressed in thousands, so gate receipts are stlg 11,945,000. As for the stlg 692,000 paid to "one director," given that Messers Harris & Blitzer are Managing Owner and Co-Managing Owner respectively of the Philadelphia 76ers NBA franchise with Mr. Wolf serving as Owner/Chairman/Governor and Mr. Blitzer serving as Owner/Vice Chairman/Alternate Governor of the (Newark) New Jersey Devils NHL Franchise. I would think they would draw income from either of those two franchises due to their higher turnover.
